WAKE FOREST, NC – Fred Smith Company, a contractor working at the future site of Wake Forest Fire Station #6, will continue closing through late July the portion of Bowling Forest from Wait Avenue/NC 98 to Fern Hollow Trail daily from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The temporary road closure is necessary to allow crews to install two manholes and connect to the existing sewer main. The work, which was expected to be completed in early July, has been delayed by inclement weather, underground utility conflicts, and other issues.
To minimize disruption, the contractor will continue backfilling the trenches each day and covering them with steel plates. As a result, the roadway will only be closed daily between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Signage and flaggers are in place managing traffic flow and safely directing motorists around the work area. Delays are expected, so motorists may wish to avoid these areas and take an alternate route.
