Registration underway for Popsicle Stick House-Building Contest as part of Building Safety Month Kick-Off April 25

  • The Inspections Department is hosting a Popsicle Stick House-Building Contest as part of this year’s Building Safety Month Kick-Off.  
  • Young people ages 7 and under, 8-9, and 10-11 are invited to build a house using popsicle sticks. 
  • Design of the house, including painting and decorations, is at the discretion of each contestant. Entries will be judged on creativity, imagination, quality, and workmanship.

WAKE FOREST, NC – For the second consecutive year, the Inspections Department is hosting a Popsicle Stick House-Building Contest for three age categories as part of this year’s Building Safety Month Kick-Off.  The kick-off event is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Town & Country Hardware, 910 Gateway Commons Circle.

Young people ages 7 and under, 8-9, and 10-11 are invited to build a house using popsicle sticks. Design of the house, including painting and decorations, is at the discretion of each contestant. Entries will be judged on creativity, imagination, quality, and workmanship.

There is no cost to participate, but registration is required at https://bit.ly/WFBuildingSafetyMonth. The deadline to register is Monday, April 13.

Each contestant must deliver his or her completed popsicle house to the April 25 Building Safety Month Kick-Off between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Inspections staff will begin the judging at 2 p.m. and announce the winners at 3 p.m.

One winner will be selected from each age category, along with one overall grand prize winner. The winner in each age bracket will receive $100, while the grand prize winner will receive $200.
