WAKE FOREST, NC – Beginning Monday, March 2, Fred Smith Company, a contractor working on the South Franklin Street Widening Project, will begin paving operations along the outside lanes of South Franklin Street.
Motorists should expect temporary traffic pattern changes and use caution while traveling through the work zone, especially in areas where asphalt tack has been applied, as it may be present on the roadway surface. Motorists should also remain attentive and respectful of construction personnel working in the area.
To help minimize delays during paving operations, drivers are encouraged to access the Heritage Greens neighborhood via Artisan Park Drive as there may be temporary delays at the Meadow Flowers Avenue and Heritage Greens Drive entrances.
The Town of Wake Forest appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as work continues on the South Franklin Street Widening Project. The initiative is a key investment in Wake Forest’s transportation infrastructure, and the Town is committed to keeping the community informed as progress moves forward. Substantial completion of the project is scheduled for the end of September 2025 with final completion expected in late October/early November.
