One person killed in Tuesday night crash along Capital Boulevard/US 1
***UPDATE - The deceased individual involved in last night’s fatal crash has been identified as Katana Perry of Raleigh. Perry, 24, was a passenger in one of two vehicles struck by Willie Gene Coleman, 4640 N 13TH St, Philadelphia, PA.
The investigation determined that Coleman, 74, was traveling southbound along a northbound lane of Capital Boulevard/US 1 near Star Road when the vehicle he was driving collided with a vehicle driven by Barrett Carter of Raleigh and a second vehicle driven by Quidasiah Teachey of Franklinton.
Carter, 36, was transported to a local hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. Teachey, 19, suffered minor injuries.
Coleman has been charged with Misdemeanor Death by Vehicle and driving the wrong way on a dual lane highway. He remains hospitalized in critical condition and will be served once released from the hospital. Impairment is not suspected as a factor in last night’s crash.

On Tuesday, May 20, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Wake Forest Police responded to a three-vehicle crash along Capital Boulevard/US 1 in the vicinity of Star Road.
Responding officers located one female who died as a result of her injuries. Three other people were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
All lanes along northbound Capital Boulevard/US 1 at Star Road were closed until 3:45 a.m. while the crash was investigated. The NC State Highway Patrol assisted with the investigation.
The preliminary investigation indicates one person was traveling southbound along a northbound lane of Capital Boulevard/US 1 when his vehicle collided with the other two vehicles.
Charges against the wrong-way driver are pending.
