Dunn Creek Greenway Phases 3 & 4 and Miller Park now open

WAKE FOREST, NC – On Friday, May 8, the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department hosted separate ribbon-cuttings to commemorate the official openings of Dunn Creek Greenway Phases 3 and 4 and Miller Park, 401 Elm Ave. 

 

About Dunn Creek Greenway Phases 3 and 4

Funded by the 2022 Bond Referendum, Phase 3 adds 1.8 miles of greenway to the Dunn Creek network. Starting at the current end of the Dunn Creek Greenway north of Dr. Calvin Jones Highway/NC 98 Bypass, Phase 3 connects the existing greenway alignment to Ailey Young Park and the existing greenway network constructed in the Traditions neighborhood. Phase 4 connects Flaherty Park, Orchards at Traditions, Flaherty Farms, and the Del Webb community to the Dunn Creek Greenway, with the addition of 0.62 miles of new greenway. About Miller Park Phase 1

Located at 401 Elm Avenue in downtown Wake Forest, Miller Park is situated at the intersection of South Franklin Street, Elm Avenue, and South Taylor Street. The two-acre wooded park features a picnic area and paved trails that loop throughout the park. Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and the 2024 General Obligation Public Improvement Bonds, Phase 1 improvements included the restoration of an unstable stream that flows through the park and renovations of the park’s amenities and greenway system to enhance connectivity.
