Crash closes northbound Capital Boulevard/US 1

The person involved in the fatal crash along Capital Boulevard/US 1 on December 28 has been identified as Waleed Mohamed Abdelsattar, 47, of Wake Forest.

The driver has been identified as Kristen Hellier, 47, of Wake Forest.
The preliminary investigation indicates Hellier was traveling southbound along a northbound lane of Capital Boulevard/US 1 when her vehicle collided with Abdelsattar’s vehicle.
Hellier has been charged with DWI (served via citation) and Felony Death by Motor Vehicle (unserved warrant). She remains hospitalized and will be served once released from the hospital.

On Thursday, Dec. 28, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Wake Forest Police responded to a three-vehicle crash along Capital Boulevard/US 1 in the vicinity of Club Villas Drive.

Responding officers located one adult male who died as a result of his injuries. A second individual was transported to a local hospital. There is no word on the extent of their injuries. 

All lanes along northbound Capital Boulevard/US 1 at Stadium Drive are closed while the crash is being investigated. The NC State Highway Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
