WAKE FOREST, NC – Wake Forest Commissioner Haseeb Fatmi resigned his seat on the Board of Commissioners (BOC) earlier today, prior to being sworn in to complete the remaining term of former State Sen. Terence Everitt representing Senate District 18.
The BOC will discuss and determine the process of filling his vacant seat during its June 2 work session. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Board Chambers, located on the second floor of Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St.
Mr. Fatmi was elected to a four-year-term on the BOC in November 2025 and sworn in on December 16, 2025. On May 14, 2026, local Democratic Party leaders nominated Mr. Fatmi to complete the remaining term of former State Sen. Everitt. On Thursday, Gov. Josh Stein formally appointed Mr. Fatmi to fill the Senate District 18 seat. He resigned his BOC seat earlier today leaving it vacant with nearly four years remaining on his unexpired term.
