Christmas & New Year’s Holiday Schedules

  • Wake Forest Town Hall and other administrative offices will be closed Wednesday-Friday, Dec. 24-26, for the Christmas holiday and Thursday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s.
  • During the weeks of December 22 and December 29, trash and recycling will be collected according to the normal schedule on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
  • The Thursday and Friday routes will be collected one day later than normal and extend into Saturday. So, Thursday’s route will be collected Friday, and Friday’s route will be collected Saturday.
  • Beginning Monday, Dec. 29, Town crews will collect and recycle live Christmas trees from residential homes during yard waste collection.

WAKE FOREST, NC – The Wake Forest Town Hall and other administrative offices will be closed Wednesday-Friday, Dec. 24-26, for the Christmas holiday and Thursday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s. 

Public Transit
Neither Go Wake Forest nor the Wake Forest-Raleigh Express (WRX) will operate Thursday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1. Both will resume normal operations the next day (Friday, Dec. 26, and Friday, Jan. 2). 

Trash & Recycling
During the weeks of December 22 and December 29, trash and recycling will be collected according to the normal schedule on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The Thursday and Friday routes will be collected one day later than normal and extend into Saturday. So, Thursday’s route will be collected Friday, and Friday’s route will be collected Saturday.

Yard Waste
During the week of December 22, yard waste and loose-leaf collection will be suspended. The break will provide the Fleet Services Division an opportunity to make repairs to the Town’s collection equipment. 

During the week of December 29, yard waste will not be collected on Thursday, Jan. 1. The collection of all routes, including Thursday’s route, will occur Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday until all have been completed. To ensure that all neighborhoods are serviced properly, residents are urged to leave their normal yard waste and loose leaves in separate piles behind the curb by 7 a.m. Monday. 

Wake Forest residents can track the progress of leaf collection crews by calling the Leaf Collection Hotline at 919-435-9582. Christmas Tree Collection
Beginning Monday, Dec. 29, Town crews will collect and recycle live Christmas trees from residential homes during yard waste collection. The trees will be ground into mulch and made available for free to residents upon request. To recycle your Christmas tree, remove all decorations, tinsel, nails, stands, and bags from the tree and set it behind the curb for collection. 

Bulk Waste
During the week of December 22, bulk waste will be collected on Tuesday, Dec. 23. To schedule a bulk pickup, complete and submit the online bulk waste pick-up request form at http://bit.ly/WFBulkPickupForm by 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22. 

During the week of December 29, bulk pickups will occur on Tuesday, Dec. 30. To schedule a bulk pickup, complete and submit the online bulk waste pick-up request form by 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29.

Residents without internet service can schedule their bulk pick-ups by calling 919-435-9570. Anyone who calls after hours may leave a voicemail message. All voicemail requests for bulk pick-up service must include the resident’s name, physical address, and telephone number, along with a description of the bulk waste items to be collected. Any service request that does not include the required information will not be processed.

Wake County Convenience Centers
Area residents who wish to dispose of items that do not qualify for bulk waste pickup may consider utilizing one of Wake County’s 11 convenience centers. Open daily from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., each convenience center will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Waste Wizard
Wake Forest residents are encouraged to stay informed about the Town’s trash, recycling, bulk waste, and yard waste collection programs, including changes to the normal collection schedules, by signing up for the “Waste Wizard.” Available on the Town website at http://bit.ly/WFWasteWizard, the Waste Wizard is an interactive tool that allows users to sign up for waste collection reminders and download collection schedules.
