2023 Christmas & 2024 New Year’s Holiday Schedules

Wednesday, December 6, 2023 - 12:00pm

The Wake Forest Town Hall and other administrative offices will be closed Monday-Wednesday, Dec. 25-27, for the Christmas holiday and Monday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s.

Bus Service

Neither the Wake Forest Loop (WFL) nor the Wake Forest-Raleigh Express (WRX) will operate on Monday, Dec. 25, and Monday, Jan. 1. Both will resume normal operations the following day.

Trash & Recycling

During the weeks of December 25 and January 1, trash and recycling will be collected one day later than normal and extend into Saturday. So, for example, Monday’s route will be collected Tuesday and Friday’s route will be collected Saturday.

Yard Waste

During the week of December 25, yard waste and loose leaf collection will be suspended. The break will allow crews to focus on collecting Christmas trees and provide the Fleet Services Division an opportunity to make repairs to the Town’s collection equipment.

During the week of January 1, yard waste will not be collected on Monday. The collection of all routes, including Monday’s route, will occur Tuesday-Friday, Jan. 2-5, until all have been completed. To ensure that all neighborhoods are serviced properly, residents are urged to leave their normal yard waste and loose leaves in separate piles behind the curb by 7 a.m. Tuesday.

To view a map of the yard waste collection schedule, visit http://bit.ly/WFYardWaste. Wake Forest residents can track the progress of leaf collection crews by calling the Leaf Collection Hotline at 919-435-9582. The hotline is updated each weekday morning by 8 a.m. with information identifying areas where crews will be working that day.
