The Wake Forest Urban Forestry Board (UFB) is hosting its annual tree seedling giveaway on Saturday, April 22, at E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road. The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and will be held rain or shine! In the event of rain, all of the Arbor Day festivities, including the tree seedling giveaway, will be moved to the Flaherty Park Community Center, 1226 N. White Street.
Urban Forestry Board (UFB) members, town staff and volunteers will distribute 800 tree seedlings, including buttonbush, American hornbeam, overcup oak, dogwood, and Shantung maple (limit two per household) to area residents free of charge while they last. Volunteers will also be on hand to help residents decide which seedlings grow best in their respective yard conditions.
The tree seedlings will be given away on a first-come, first serve basis. Reservations and sign-ups prior to the event will not be accepted.
Bring Your Own Bag
The UFB is encouraging residents to help protect the environment by bringing their own reusable shopping tote or other environmentally-friendly bag when they pick up their seedlings.
