Still time to register to volunteer for Saturday’s National Public Lands Day of Service
The Wake Forest Greenways Advisory Board (GAB) is celebrating National Public Lands Day by hosting a “Day of Service” this Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m.-noon.
To commemorate the “Day of Service,” the GAB is inviting volunteers of all ages to sign up to clean up the Smith Creek Greenway and plant bulbs along the trail. Participants will meet at 8:45 a.m. at the Smith Creek Soccer Center, 690 Heritage Lake Road, for a brief orientation. Following the cleanup, lunch will be provided.
Registration is required by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at http://bit.ly/WFNationalPublicLandsDay. Everyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or adult. Waiver of liability forms are required for all participants and included on the online registration form.
Participants are urged to dress appropriately for being outdoors by wearing protective clothing, sunscreen, insect repellent, hats and appropriate close-toed shoes (no sandals or flip-flops).
