Raleigh Water responding to water main break along Jenkins Road

Monday, September 6, 2021 - 10:22am

Raleigh Water crews are responding to a ruptured water main along Jenkins Road in the vicinity of Chilmark Avenue. It is unclear what caused the main to rupture, but 242 water customers have been impacted.

For the safety of work crews, the portion of Jenkins Road from Capital Boulevard/US 1 to Chilmark Avenue has been reduced to one lane with intermittent two-way traffic. Signage and flaggers are in place directing motorists through the work area. Delays are expected, so motorists are urged to avoid the area and take an alternate route.

According to Raleigh Water officials, water service is expected to be restored by 1-2 p.m. today, and repairs are expected to be completed by 6 p.m.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
