PRCR seeking Specialized Recreation instructors

Wednesday, October 30, 2019 - 11:51am

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department is recruiting specialized recreation instructors for a variety of youth and adult programming.

PRCR is especially in need of the following program instructors: hip hop dance, yoga, therapeutic drumming, cooking/baking, theater/acting, and workplace readiness.

The department offers an array of year-round recreation classes and activities. Many are the result of a local enthusiast expressing a desire to teach a program on their particular topic of interest.

“We offer a wide variety of classes, activities, and events that meet the diverse needs and interests of the Wake Forest community,” said Specialized Programs Specialist Kelly Schurtz. “However, our programming success is due to our quality instructors and their dedication, enthusiasm and knowledge.”

Programs may be offered on a weekly basis or as one-time workshops. Instructors set their own class schedules, title, content and topic subject to the approval of the Recreation Superintendent and dependent upon facility availability. Experience working with individuals with disabilities and varying ability levels is preferred but not required.

Anyone who has an idea for a program or an interest in serving as a program instructor is encouraged to contact Kelly Schurtz at 919-435-9559 or kschurtz@wakeforestnc.gov.
