Police Department resumes fingerprinting service & child safety seat installations

The Wake Forest Police Department (WFPD) will resume live scan fingerprinting service today (Thursday, July 22) for Wake Forest residents only on Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon at the Police Department Main Station, 225 E. Taylor St. The cost is $10, and only cash is accepted.

No appointment is required, but the service is limited to the first 12 people to arrive. Proof of residency and a valid picture ID are required. Also, to help ensure the health and safety of residents and staff, anyone getting fingerprinted must wear a face mask or covering while inside the police department. The WFPD has also resumed free child safety seat installations by appointment only. Suspended since March 2020 due to COVID, the service is also provided at the Police Department Main Station. For information about child safety seat installations or to make an appointment, call 919-554-6150.

Area residents also have two other local fingerprinting service options, including the Raleigh/Wake City-County Bureau of Identification (CCBI) and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Raleigh/Wake CCBI, 3301 Hammond Road, Raleigh, offers fingerprinting service by appointment only weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. No walk-ins are accepted. The fee is $30. For more information, call 919-856-6300.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, 285 T Kemp Road, Louisburg, offers fingerprinting services to the public during normal business hours. The cost is $10, and the telephone number is 919-496-2186.
