Traffic Alert – Cardinal Drive
State Contracting, Inc., a contractor working on behalf of the Town of Wake Forest, will close a portion of Cardinal Drive in the vicinity of the Wait Avenue intersection Monday-Friday, Nov. 5-9, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to install infrastructure as part of the Priority Pedestrian Corridor Project. The initiative will provide sidewalk connections along East Wait Avenue from Allen Road to Traditions Grande Boulevard.

A signed detour will be in place along Wait Avenue to notify and direct traffic around the work area. Delays are expected, so drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route if possible.

Cardinal Drive will remain accessible via South Allen Road.

Royal Mill Avenue connection set to open Monday
The Town of Wake Forest will open the new Royal Mill Avenue connection on Monday, Nov. 5, at 7 a.m.

Extending from Flaherty Avenue to Traditions Ridge Drive, the new section will transform Royal Mill Avenue into a through street that connects North White Street to Traditions Grande Boulevard.

Motorists are advised that once the new link opens, the current stop sign at Royal Mill Avenue and Flaherty Avenue will be removed. The three-way stop sign at the intersection of North Franklin Street and Royal Mill will remain.

The Royal Mill Avenue connection is one of several initiatives included in the Town's "Street Connections Projects." Others include a Forest Road connection, radius repairs in the South Forest Business Park, the re-striping of Retail Drive and the repaving of the Wake Forest Police Department parking lot. The total cost of these projects is $915,000.

Traffic Alert – North Avenue
Drivers should expect delays along North Avenue daily from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. through Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Fred Smith Co., a contractor working on behalf of the Town of Wake Forest, will reduce to one lane with intermittent two-way traffic the portion of North Avenue from North Wingate Street to North Main Street. The lane closure is necessary to allow crews to install new water service lines along North Avenue.

Signage and flaggers will be in place to safely direct traffic flow through the work area. Delays are expected, so motorists are encouraged to take an alternate route if possible.

Please note: Motorists will be prohibited from parking along the affected portion of North Avenue through Nov. 21. In addition, no lane closures will be in affect during Wake Forest High School dismissal hours.
