State of NC with the words Recre8 inside itThe Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department and the Recreation Advisory Board will join with 13 other parks and recreation departments across our state to host a North Carolina Recreation & Park Association (NCRPA) Recre8 5k on Saturday, April 16. Check-in on the day of the race starts at 8 a.m. and the race begins at 9:30 a.m. This family-friendly event will start and finish at E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road.

Designed to raise awareness of parks and recreation in North Carolina and raise funds to support the advancement of recreation in our state, the NCRPA Recre8 5k is an untimed race for both children and adults.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to assist in a variety of ways, including check-in attendant, vendor set-up, water station attendant, and more. Volunteers should plan to arrive at 7:30 a.m. and be finished by 1 p.m.


Registration Information

  • Registration for the NCRPA Recre8 5k is available online through April 14.

  • The entry fee is $30 before Feb. 27; $35 before March 31; and $45 from April 1-14.

  • Everyone who registers before April 4 will receive a race T-shirt.

  • Registrations will not be accepted on the day of the race.
