Music at Midday

Music at Midday returns to Centennial Plaza this spring beginning Thursday, May 10, and continues each Thursday through May 31. Sponsored by the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department and Wake Forest ARTS, Music at Midday features diverse one-hour musical programs from noon to 1 p.m.

Picture this: It's lunchtime Thursday and you're about to reheat last night's leftover spaghetti for lunch at your desk. Don't you wish you had a better alternative? Well now you do! Wake Forest's Music at Midday is your chance to try something new and refreshing!

Music at Midday offers you the opportunity to break away from the grind, go outside, and treat yourself to a free music concert.

These concerts are free and open to the public. Picnics are not only welcome - they're encouraged!

Concert Schedule

  • May 10 - Honey Magpie
Honey Magpie is a four-piece indie-folk band from the Durham, NC area. Their sound is both traditional and modern, blending classical string instruments and three-part harmonies with pop, rock, and indie influences.

  • May 17 - Freddy Greene Trio
For those who have witnessed a performance by Freddy Greene, it is apparent that there is magic in the air as he weaves his silky tunes. The energetic Jazz/Funk musician and composer weaves the smooth and mellow sounds of classic Jazz with innovative Funk.

  • May 24 - DRL Band
The DRL Band is an original rock n roll band, heavily influenced by over five decades of British music.

  • May 31 - Big Bang Boom
Established in 2007 out of Greensboro, NC, Big Bang Boom is a rockin’ power pop duo consisting of talented artists and long-time musicians Chuck Folds and Steve Willard. These dynamic dads play parent-friendly, educational children’s music! That’s right! After 20 years of touring the grown-up stages, they decided to expand their horizons and play for parents (like themselves) who want MORE from children’s music. They write songs with a pop sensibility by cleverly mixing alternative, hip-hop, rock, country, and other genres to create music that both adults AND children can enjoy, because Big Bang Boom songs are fun and they teach you things!

Dessert Trucks
A dessert truck serving sweet treats will be onsite during each concert.
