Tree Seedling Giveaway

Tree Seedling Giveaway
Saturday, April 23 ~ 9 am - 2 pm
Town Hall Parking Lot, 301 S. Brooks St.

The Wake Forest Urban Forestry Board (UFB) is offering residents added incentive to attend this year’s Forest Fest in downtown Wake Forest. The UFB will host the popular Tree Seedling Giveaway as part of the April 23 festivities.

During the tree seedling giveaway, UFB members, Town staff and volunteers will distribute over 3,000 ginkgo, persimmon, oak, and sweetgum seedlings - while they last. Forest Fest begins at 9 a.m., so anyone interested in obtaining free tree seedlings is encouraged to arrive at the start of the event – if not earlier.

In addition to distributing the tree seedlings, volunteers will be on hand to help residents decide which seedlings grow best in their respective yard conditions, demonstrate proper mulching and pruning techniques and discuss simple, yet effective tree care practices. Volunteers will also share information about the volunteer Tree Steward Program.

The tree seedlings will be given away on a first-come, first serve basis. Reservations and sign-ups prior to the event will not be accepted.

Bring Your Own Bag

The UFB is encouraging residents to help protect the environment by bringing their own reusable shopping tote or other environmentally-friendly bag when they pick up their seedlings.
