Meet in the Street

36th Annual Meet in the Street
Saturday, May 7, 2016 ~ 10 am - 5 pm

The 36th Annual Meet in the Street® festival will take place Saturday, May 7, at 10 am in historic downtown Wake Forest. Presented by the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce, Meet in the Street offers a day filled with food, fun and entertainment, including live music and children’s activities. Admission is free.

Festivities will include dozens of artisans' booths featuring handcrafted arts and crafts along South Taylor Street, South Brooks Street, and South White Street starting at 10 am. The event also will include multiple entertainment venues and a beer garden.


Performance Stages 
Meet in the Street will offer two performance stages featuring a variety of performing artists. Outstanding local acts, including three local youth rock bands, are scheduled to perform in the Performance Plaza, situated in town hall’s Centennial Plaza, along with a variety of martial arts academies and the Wake Forest Elementary School Choir.

Live music will be provided on the Main Stage, located on South Main Street in the vicinity of the Beer Garden, by such popular groups as The Lang Sisters, Southern Blend Band, Rebekah Todd and the Odyssey and Liverpool of the Carolinas - Beatles Experience.

Park & Ride
A new feature of this year’s Meet in the Street will be the free shuttle service. In conjunction with Sam's Club and Banks Kerr Family YMCA, visitors will be able to hop on one of two YMCA buses at the Wake Forest Target, 12000 Retail Dr., for the short trip into downtown. The free shuttle will drop off visitors across from La Foresta, 203 Brooks St. The shuttle will run continuously beginning at 9:30 a.m. The final shuttle will depart from downtown at 5:30 p.m.

Free parking will be available in signed spaces along several downtown streets and parking lots.

Handicap parking will be provided in the Depot Parking Lot, 110 S. White St.; Renaissance Place Parking Lot, 405 S. Brooks St.; and the upper SunTrust Parking Lot, 353 S. White St.
