Understanding the Town's Employment Application Process

To Apply 
To be considered for an opportunity with The Town of Wake Forest, you must complete a separate Employment Application for each position for which you are applying. Resumes alone do not qualify as an application and will not be considered unless attached to a fully completed Town of Wake Forest Employment Application. We only accept and consider Employment Applications for currently posted positions. Please check our job line 919-435-9498 or this website for a current list of our posted positions. You may download an application from this website or obtain one at Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest, NC 27587. You may also call 919-435-9492 to have an application mailed to you. Applications must be received by mail, delivered to Town Hall or emailed to HumanResources@wakeforestnc.gov by 5 p.m. on the closing day. All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening. EOE/ADA. Once submitted, application materials become the property of the Town.

When we receive an application, we send out a post card to each applicant to confirm receipt and to ensure consideration.  To check on the status of a position, please scroll down to the bottom of this page for additional information.  All qualified applications are forwarded to the hiring department and as soon as we hear from the hiring manager, we update both this webpage and our job line. Unless there is an update posted, applications are still being reviewed.  For general employees, we will contact you within two weeks of the position closing date if we are planning to pursue your candidacy.  Our hiring process takes longer for police officers, however, we will contact you within three months of receiving your application if we are interested in pursuing your candidacy.

  • Summer Day Camp Program Director (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department) 
    Application Deadline: Open until filled 
    Minimum Starting Salary: $12.06/hour

    We are currently accepting applications for a Temporary Summer Camp Program Director to plan and implement summer camp activities. Responsibilities include: overseeing the daily functions of the program, supervising staff, and providing direction to instructors. This camp program operates on a full-day schedule with activities including arts& crafts, sports and creative dance for participants ages 6-12. Additional responsibilities consist of general facility upkeep and maintenance of records and logs. Minimum qualifications include: a valid NC Driver's License, High School Diploma or GED, and possession of First Aid and CPR certifications before camp begins. Preferred qualifications include: 2+years of experience as a teacher, teacher's aide or childcare provider. Progressive employment experience in a camp setting will also be considered. All applicants will be subject to a comprehensive background screening. Work schedule: 25-30 hours a week mid-June to mid-August.
     
  • Summer Day Camp Program Counselor (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $10.17/hour

    We are currently accepting applications for Temporary, Summer Camp Counselors to perform a variety of activities with camp participants ages 6-12. Successful candidates are dependable, conscientious and work best as part of a team. Counselors work under the direction of camp management staff. Minimum qualifications include: High school diploma or GED or (3) teacher reference letters. All applicants will be subject to a comprehensive background screening.
     
  • Code Enforcement Officer (Inspections Department) 
    Application Deadline: Open until filled 
    Minimum Starting Salary: $40,490-$55,000

    We are seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Code Enforcement Officer. The position involves plan review and inspection of work in progress. The ideal candidate will possess a Level I certification in building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical. Employee will maintain records of inspections and prepare necessary reports for the Inspections Director.
     
  • Telecommunicator (Public Safety Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $34,977

    The Town of Wake Forest  is seeking a team-player to receive emergency and routine calls for police assistance and general information. The ideal candidate must be able to dispatch police units, operate a variety of electronic equipment and answer several incoming calls at one time. Work requires frequent public contact that will require tact, firmness, decisiveness, and judgment in order to obtain necessary information from people who are under extreme stress. Must be able to multi-task and choose appropriate courses of action in a rapid and efficient manner. DCI operator certification is preferred. We will conduct a thorough background investigation, as this is a highly sensitive position. High school diploma or equivalent required. Preference will be given to applicants with public safety experience. Shift work required and will include some nights, weekends and holidays). This is an essential position for purposes of inclement weather.
     
  • Electric Powerline Technician II (Electric Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $40,490

    The Town of Wake Forest is seeking a knowledgeable individual to perform technical Powerline work. Duties include but are not limited to: construction, maintenance and repair of electrical power distribution systems. Position requires knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions necessary in powerline work. The ideal candidate will have the ability to climb poles, work on high voltage lines under supervision and take precautionary measures to avoid accidents. Valid Class A CDL required. This is an essential position for purposes of inclement weather.  Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
     
  • Police Officer (Public Safety Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $40,490

    The Town of Wake Forest Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified officers to join our Public Safety Department. Selected individuals will perform general law enforcement work to protect life and property within the Town of Wake Forest corporate limits. A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with a valid NC Drivers License. Applicants must have no criminal record and need to submit to a background check, a polygraph, a physical and psychological screening. North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) required. Only applicants with NCBLET Certification will be considered. Shift work required.
     
  • Construction Worker III (Streets Department)
    ​Application Deadline: Open until filled
    Minimum Starting Salary: $34,977   

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires extensive construction experience, operation of equipment at a high skill level, leading of work crews in the absence of a crew supervisor, and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must have experience in skilled construction equipment operation and supervisory experience. Valid Class A CDL and street flagging certification is required.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
