When we receive an application, we send out a post card to each applicant to confirm receipt and to ensure consideration.  To check on the status of a position, please scroll down to the bottom of this page for additional information.  All qualified applications are forwarded to the hiring department and as soon as we hear from the hiring manager, we update both this webpage and our job line. Unless there is an update posted, applications are still being reviewed.  For general employees, we will contact you within two weeks of the position closing date if we are planning to pursue your candidacy.  Our hiring process takes longer for police officers, however, we will contact you within three months of receiving your application if we are interested in pursuing your candidacy.

  • Equipment Mechanic (Fleet Maintenance Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $39,716 

    The Town of Wake Forest seeks an energetic and team oriented individual for the position of Equipment Mechanic. An employee in this class serves as a skilled mechanic in our fleet repair facility. The employee performs diagnostic, mechanical repair, and scheduled maintenance on gasoline, hybrid and diesel vehicles and equipment. The work requires knowledge and technical ability in the operation of various diagnostic test equipment, pneumatic and hand tools in order to support the work activities. The employee is subject to hazards associated with mechanical repairs, including working in both inside and outside environments, and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electric current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases and oils. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Fleet Services Superintendent. Education Requirement: Graduation from high school supplemented by course work in equipment maintenance, and considerable experience in repairing automotive, construction and specialized equipment.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. 
     
  • Part-Time Economic Development Coordinator (Economic Development Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $20.00/per hour

    The Town of Wake Forest seeks a qualified part-time economic development coordinator who will focus on the Town's business recruitment and retention efforts. The ideal candidate must be available to work approximately 20-29 hours per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing marketing initiatives, programs and projects that support and promote business attraction and retention, commercial development, small business/entrepreneurial development and other economic development projects. A Bachelor's Degree in economic development, community development, planning, marketing, communications or related field is required. A minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience in economic development, business attraction and/or marketing and communications experience preferred. Proficiency in the use of the Internet, the use of computer software programs (i.e., word processing, Excel, Access, Power Point), web content-editing, social media, writing and editing expected. In addition, basic graphic design skills highly desired. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job, may be considered at the discretion of Town management.
     
  • Electric Powerline Technician II (Electric Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $41,702

    The Town of Wake Forest is  seeking a knowledgeable individual to perform technical Powerline work. Duties include but are not limited to: construction, maintenance and repair of electrical power distribution systems. Position requires considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions necessary in power line work. The ideal candidate will have the ability to climb poles, work on high voltage lines under supervision and take precautionary measures to avoid accidents. Valid Class A CDL is required.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. 
     
  • Construction Worker II (Streets Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $34,309 

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires experience in construction work and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must also have experience in skilled construction equipment operation. Valid Class A CDL is required.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. 
     
  • Telecommunicator (Public Safety Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $36,024

    The Town of Wake Forest  is seeking a team-player to receive emergency and routine calls for police assistance and general information. The ideal candidate must be able to dispatch police units, operate a variety of electronic equipment and answer several incoming calls at one time. Work requires frequent public contact that will require tact, firmness, decisiveness, and judgment in order to obtain necessary information from people who are under extreme stress. Must be able to multi-task and choose appropriate courses of action in a rapid and efficient manner. DCI operator certification is preferred. We will conduct a thorough background investigation, as this is a highly sensitive position. High school diploma or equivalent required. Preference will be given to applicants with public safety experience. Shift work required and will include some nights, weekends and holidays). This is an essential position for purposes of inclement weather.
     
  • Police Officer (Public Safety Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified officers to join our Public Safety Department. Selected individuals will perform general law enforcement work to protect life and property within the Town of Wake Forest corporate limits. A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with a valid NC Drivers License. Applicants must have no criminal record and need to submit to a background check, a polygraph, a physical and psychological screening. North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) required. Only applicants with NCBLET Certification will be considered. Shift work required.
     
  • Construction Worker III (Streets Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $37,825 

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires extensive construction experience, operation of equipment at a high skill level, leading of work crews in the absence of a crew supervisor, and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must have experience in skilled construction equipment operation and supervisory experience. Valid Class A CDL and street flagging certification is required.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
