When we receive an application, we send out a post card to each applicant to confirm receipt and to ensure consideration.  To check on the status of a position, please scroll down to the bottom of this page for additional information.  All qualified applications are forwarded to the hiring department and as soon as we hear from the hiring manager, we update both this webpage and our job line. Unless there is an update posted, applications are still being reviewed.  For general employees, we will contact you within two weeks of the position closing date if we are planning to pursue your candidacy.  Our hiring process takes longer for police officers, however, we will contact you within three months of receiving your application if we are interested in pursuing your candidacy.

  • Planner II (Community Development Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $50,689

    The Town of Wake Forest Community Development Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Planner II.  This is a full-time position, which is primarily responsible for advanced technical and professional duties to support the activities of the Development Services Division pertaining to the land use regulation, development, and zoning.  Under limited supervision, the successful candidate will perform advanced professional planning work involving major program and project responsibilities. Work involves performing independent work in the review of residential and non-residential subdivision/site plan reviews; preparation of presentations for the Planning Board and Board of Commissioners; meeting with engineers, developers, members of the community, and other design professionals; answering daily phone calls regarding land use and zoning; and performing special assignments.  The successful candidate must be able to exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the development community, property owners and the general public.  The Development Services Manager supervises work.   Education and Experience:  Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in urban or regional planning, geography, landscape architecture, or closely related field with a moderate level of professional experience in public sector planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Possession or ability to obtain AICP certification within one year is preferred.  Hours of work: Monday- Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm.  The Town offers an excellent benefits package.
     
  • Police Officer (Public Safety Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified officers to join our Public Safety Department. Selected individuals will perform general law enforcement work to protect life and property within the Town of Wake Forest corporate limits. A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with a valid NC Driver’s License. Applicants must have no criminal record and need to submit to a background check, a polygraph, a physical and psychological screening. North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) required. Only applicants with NCBLET Certification will be consideredShift work required.
     
  • Application Analyst (MIS Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest is seeking a knowledgeable and professional individual for the position of Application Analyst. An employee in this class is responsible for performing professional administrative and technical work coordinating a variety of complex systems analysis duties in the design, implementation and maintenance of management information systems, and supporting software applications. This includes working with end-users to gather and document functional requirements and technical specifications. Desired skills include VB.Net, SQL, SQL Server Reporting Services, ASP.Net and Crystal Reports. Experience with New World\Tyler, SunGard OSSI, Microsoft SharePoint, and mobile applications is desirable. The ideal candidate will have at a minimum any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in computer science, information technology, or related field and three or more years of experience in systems analysis, computer technology, preferably in a local government environment. Requires a valid NC Driver's License and DCI background check.
     
  • Electric Powerline Technician II (Electric Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest is seeking a knowledgeable individual to perform technical Powerline work. Duties include but are not limited to: construction, maintenance and repair of electrical power distribution systems. Position requires considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions necessary in power line work. The ideal candidate will have the ability to climb poles, work on high voltage lines under supervision and take precautionary measures to avoid accidents. Class A CDL is required. Hours of work: 7:00am- 3:30pm.
     
  • Part-Time Facility Attendant (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department)

    We are currently accepting applications for Part-Time Facility Attendants. The ideal candidate will be responsible for effectively supervising patrons and activities at various Town facilities, maintaining records and reports, monitoring use of equipment to ensure patron’s safety, general maintenance & upkeep of facilities and the opening and closing of facilities. Night and weekend work required, hours worked as needed.
     
  • Telecommunicator (Public Safety Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest is seeking a team-player to receive emergency and routine calls for police assistance and general information. The ideal candidate must be able to dispatch police units, operate a variety of electronic equipment and answer several incoming calls at one time. Work requires frequent public contact that will require tact, firmness, decisiveness, and judgement in order to obtain necessary information from people who are under extreme stress. Must be able to multi-task and choose appropriate courses of action in a rapid and efficient manner. DCI operator certification is preferred.  We will conduct a thorough background investigation, as this is a highly sensitive position. High school diploma or equivalent required. Preference will be given to those applicants with public safety experience. Shift work required and will include some nights, weekends and holidays.  This is an essential position for purposes of inclement weather.
     
  • Tree Trimming Technician I (Tree Trimming Department)

    We are looking for a dynamic team player to work near energized conductors/high voltage lines and operate specialized, heavy forestry/arboricultural vehicles and equipment working from an aerial lift and/or climbing trees and skillfully using power hand tools to perform multiple tree pruning, removal, planting and maintenance functions within an urban forestry program.  Work is performed on street rights-of-way, in parks, in sewer outfalls, and around Towns facilities and land holdings. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment under general supervision. Class A CDL required.  Line Clearance Tree Trimmer Certification within 6 months of hire required. Hours of work: Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

  • Construction Worker II (Streets Department)
    ​Application Deadline: Open until filled
    Minimum Starting Salary: $34,309 

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires experience in construction work and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must have experience in skilled construction equipment operation. Valid Class A CDL required.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
