Unless there is an update posted, applications are still being reviewed.  For general employees, we will contact you within two weeks of the position closing date if we are planning to pursue your candidacy.  Our hiring process takes longer for police officers, however, we will contact you within three months of receiving your application if we are interested in pursuing your candidacy.

  • Transportation Planning Manager (Planning Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $61,612

    The Town of Wake Forest seeks an energetic and team oriented individual for the position of Transportation Planning Manager.  An employee in this class is responsible for the planning and development of transportation-related programs and direct supervision of transportation planning personnel.  Work involves high-level professional planner responsibilities in the formation, installation, modification and improvement of the Town's transportation program.  The ideal candidate will recommend transportation planning policies for approval, consult with officials of local governments, state, MPO and the federal government to coordinate all phases of the town’s transportation planning; assist with the development and implementation of the town’s transportation related plans such as bicycle, pedestrian, transportation and open space and greenways; prepare public presentations and materials and coordinate with state, county, municipal, transit agencies, and community groups.  Participating as a member of the Technical Review Committee for review of development plans will be required.  The successful candidate will also administer the Town’s Locally Administered Projects Program (LAPP); conduct field work to achieve transportation related project objectives and needs; and serve as staff liaison to assigned advisory boards.  This position requires assisting the Greenways Advisory Board in event planning, as well as coordinating and implementing tasks for those events.  Work is supervised by the Planning Director and is evaluated through conferences, reports, and progress on assigned duties, planning projects and efforts.  Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in urban and regional planning, transportation planning, geography, landscape architecture or related field with considerable professional planning experience in the transportation field, including supervisory experience.  A master's degree in urban planning or related field is preferred.  AICP certification is required or the ability to be obtained within one year of employment.  Hours of work: Monday- Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm.  Salary is negotiable depending on qualifications. 
     
  • Public Facilities Specialist (Public Buildings Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $39,716

    We are seeking a team member to perform a variety of skilled tasks related to the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities and HVAC. Work includes maintaining and repairing facilities and equipment in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical and HVAC. Duties also include, maintaining inventory, tracking work orders, maintaining database, responding to work orders, and preparing reports. General knowledge of practices, materials, tools and equipment, and completion of course work or experience in two of the following: plumbing, electrical, carpentry or HVAC and proficiency at the journeyman level in HVAC preferred.
     
  • Code Enforcement Officer (Inspections Department)

    We are a qualified applicant for the position of Code Enforcement Officer. The position involves plan review and inspection of work in progress. The ideal candidate will possess a Level I certification in building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical. Employee will maintain records of inspections and prepare necessary reports for the Inspections Director.
     
  • Part-Time Graphic Designer (Communications Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest seeks a creative and team-oriented individual for the position of Part-Time Graphic Designer. An employee in this class provides graphic design services to Town staff for the purpose of enhancing the Town's brand and for informing the public about Town programs, services and events. This employee helps ensure a consistent and professional look for Town materials and communication efforts. Work includes developing, designing and producing printed and digital materials and is performed under the direct supervision of the Town's Graphics Coordinator.
     
  • Equipment Mechanic (Fleet Maintenance Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $39,716 

    The Town of Wake Forest seeks an energetic and team oriented individual for the position of Equipment Mechanic. An employee in this class serves as a skilled mechanic in our fleet repair facility. The employee performs diagnostic, mechanical repair, and scheduled maintenance on gasoline, hybrid and diesel vehicles and equipment. The work requires knowledge and technical ability in the operation of various diagnostic test equipment, pneumatic and hand tools in order to support the work activities. The employee is subject to hazards associated with mechanical repairs, including working in both inside and outside environments, and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electric current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases and oils. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Fleet Services Superintendent. Education Requirement: Graduation from high school supplemented by course work in equipment maintenance, and considerable experience in repairing automotive, construction and specialized equipment.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. 
     
  • Electric Powerline Technician II (Electric Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $41,702

    The Town of Wake Forest is  seeking a knowledgeable individual to perform technical Powerline work. Duties include but are not limited to: construction, maintenance and repair of electrical power distribution systems. Position requires considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions necessary in power line work. The ideal candidate will have the ability to climb poles, work on high voltage lines under supervision and take precautionary measures to avoid accidents. Valid Class A CDL is required.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. 
     
  • Telecommunicator (Public Safety Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $36,024

    The Town of Wake Forest  is seeking a team-player to receive emergency and routine calls for police assistance and general information. The ideal candidate must be able to dispatch police units, operate a variety of electronic equipment and answer several incoming calls at one time. Work requires frequent public contact that will require tact, firmness, decisiveness, and judgment in order to obtain necessary information from people who are under extreme stress. Must be able to multi-task and choose appropriate courses of action in a rapid and efficient manner. DCI operator certification is preferred. We will conduct a thorough background investigation, as this is a highly sensitive position. High school diploma or equivalent required. Preference will be given to applicants with public safety experience. Shift work required and will include some nights, weekends and holidays). This is an essential position for purposes of inclement weather.
     
  • Police Officer (Public Safety Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified officers to join our Public Safety Department. Selected individuals will perform general law enforcement work to protect life and property within the Town of Wake Forest corporate limits. A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with a valid NC Drivers License. Applicants must have no criminal record and need to submit to a background check, a polygraph, a physical and psychological screening. North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) required. Only applicants with NCBLET Certification will be considered. Shift work required.
     
  • Construction Worker III (Streets Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $37,825 

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires extensive construction experience, operation of equipment at a high skill level, leading of work crews in the absence of a crew supervisor, and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must have experience in skilled construction equipment operation and supervisory experience. Valid Class A CDL and street flagging certification is required.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
