RC lobbyProject Summary

In celebration of the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for the Arts’ 10-year anniversary, the Wake Forest Public Art Commission is accepting submissions from local North Carolina artists for a juried, permanent public art installation to be located inside the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre lobby (designated area shown right).

The selected artwork will be presented to the Town of Wake Forest by the artist at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre on October 7, 2023, at the Public Art Commission’s annual Celebration of the Arts.

In addition, the selected artist will be highlighted on the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre social media accounts and in The Wake Forest Public Art Commission virtual tour of public art on the Town website and within the Town app.

Artists that have experience designing, fabricating, and installing projects with a similar budget and scope, as well as emerging artists, are encouraged to apply.

Selection Process

A selection committee composed of members of the Wake Forest Public Art Commission, Wake Forest Renaissance Centre staff, and other relevant parties will jury all submissions and select the winning artist who will enter into a contract with the Town of Wake Forest. The selected artist will be responsible for delivery of their piece to the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, helping to install the artwork on Friday, September 29, 2023, and required to attend the unveiling at the Celebration of the Arts on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

Selection criteria include the applicant’s proven ability to complete projects of a similar scope, artistic merit as evidenced by the submitted materials, and demonstrated ability to work with government agencies and stakeholders in the creation of site enhancements for a public art project. All submitted artwork must be original, wholly created by the artist.

The Wake Forest Public Art Commission reserves the right to reject any or all applications, and/or extend this Call to Artists for additional applicants. All artists will be notified of standing by May 26, 2023.
