The Wake Forest Police Department, 225 S. Taylor St., will accept frozen turkey donations on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon, as part of its Sixth Annual Turkey Drive. Police officers will be onsite throughout the morning to thank donors and unload the turkeys.

According to Det. M.W. Sattler, founder and organizer of the annual Turkey Drive, the three-hour drop-off event will allow the department to effectively coordinate the storage of the donated turkeys.

The police department will continue accepting monetary donations and gift cards through Monday, Nov. 19. All monetary contributions and gift cards will be used to purchase additional turkeys. Checks should be written to the Wake Forest Police Department.

To date, the department has received enough donations to purchase approximately 200 turkeys.

The police department will distribute the turkeys to disadvantaged families on Tuesday, Nov. 20, between 9 a.m. and noon, at the Wake Forest Community House, 133 W. Owen Ave.

For more information about this year’s Turkey Drive, contact Det. Sattler at 919-435-9614.
