Threat of Hurricane Irma forces event postponements & cancellations

Due to Hurricane Irma’s potential impact on our community, Town officials have canceled the “flix4kidz” and “Free at 3” movie showings on Monday, Sept. 11. The “Wake Up Wake Forest” scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 12, has also been canceled.

These events, which were set to take place at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, will not be rescheduled.

In addition, the 22nd Wake Forest Memorial Flag-Raising Ceremony in honor of Willis Holding Winston, originally set for Sept. 11, has been rescheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18. The service will take place in Centennial Plaza, 301 S. Brooks St.

All Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources-sponsored events scheduled for the week of Sept. 11 are still on as scheduled.

Town officials are continuing to monitor Hurricane Irma and are taking steps to prepare for potentially severe weather. In the event severe weather occurs, the Town will issue regular updates through a variety of means. To stay informed residents can:
