The deadline to turn in completed South White Streetscape Survival Challenge cards has been moved from Oct. 31 to Nov. 26. Contest organizers decided to extend the contest following the recent announcement that the completion date for the South White Streetscape project was moved to mid-November.

“We’re hoping that by extending the contest, even more area residents will visit our downtown stores and shops and see for themselves all that our historic downtown has to offer,” said Downtown Development Director Lisa Newhouse.

In July, the Downtown Revitalization Corporation (DRC) and the Town of Wake Forest introduced the South White Streetscape Survival Challenge in an effort to encourage area residents to shop downtown Wake Forest and recognize the merchants for their resiliency during construction. The promotion encourages shoppers to spend at least $10 in 10 participating stores between now and Monday, Nov. 26, 2012.

To play, simply pick up a South White Streetscape Survival Challenge card at the Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. White St., or at any of the 23 participating businesses. Have 10 different merchants initial the card when you’ve met the $10 limit at their store, turn in your completed card at any participating store, and you’ll earn a free South White Street Survival T-shirt. You’ll also be entered in a special drawing for a gift basket worth $1,000. The winning ticket will be drawn during the Holiday Open House on Saturday, Dec. 1. You don’t have to be present to win.

Participants may submit as many completed cards as possible between now and Nov. 26 to increase their chances of winning the gift basket.
