A country band with a sneer, a bite, and no apologies, Sarah Shook & the Disarmers were named by Rolling Stone as one of “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know.”

Regarding the band’s 2016 album “Sidelong,” The Alternate Root wrote, “Sarah Shook and the Disarmers are a Country band out of North Carolina that wear its Rock’n’Roll smirk like a tattoo. Sarah Shook and the Disarmers sing for sad smiles and hard-luck tales. Musically, the Country rattle in the songs has an edge that might have put The Disarmers in the Alt Country family at one time. The hybrid of Rock and Country seemed so radical it was dubbed Alternative though Alt Country has been losing its first name for a few years.  Sarah Shook rides lead over a Country band in 2016 due to the blending of bloods over time as Sidelong sees a Country music future where diversity and challenges are encouraged.”
