Preparation
Trash needs to be bagged before being placed in rollout cart.
Point of service
Place cart at the curb before 7:00 am on your scheduled pickup day. Please position cart at least four feet to the side of your recycling rollout cart to ensure sufficient space for the operation of Republic Waste Services' collection equipment.

Garbage & Recycling Collection Schedule
Holidays
The curbside garbage and recycling collection schedule is typically affected only on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Garbage and recyclables normally collected on these days will be collected the next weekday. The regular curbside collection schedule is observed on most other holidays. However, Republic Waste Services reserves the right to adjust its collection schedule to observe additional holidays. Garbage and recycling customers are encouraged to refer to the Town News web page 5-7 days prior to a holiday for updated collection schedules and other information about affected Town services.
Items that cannot be collected
- Hazardous materials
- Yard waste (see yard waste schedule)
- Bulk items (picked up on Wednesdays)
- Paint
- Tires
- Motor oil
- Deceased animals
Corrugated Cardboard Preparation
Fold, flatten, or cut corrugated cardboard into bundles no larger than 2' x 2' x 3', tie securely and place next to or under your bin. Discard packing material and badly stained items.
Yard Waste/Leaf Collection
Yard waste is a separate pickup from trash. Loose leaves are picked up October 1 through March 15 of each year. Please refer to the yard waste page and scroll down to view the yard waste and leaf collection schedule for your area.
Bulk Pickup
Bulk pickups are provided on Wednesdays for items that can not fit in your trash receptacle. All pickups must be scheduled. Examples of items for bulk pickup are furniture, lawn mowers, swings, book shelves, bikes, etc. To schedule a bulk pickup please call (919) 554-6120 by 2:00 pm on the Tuesday prior to pickup. Note: The Town of Wake Forest can not pickup up gasoline, oil, tires or any hazardous material. Paint cans with dry paint only may be placed in the trash receptacle.
