DispatchThe Wake Forest Police Department raises money during the year to provide needy children a joyful Christmas. The police department takes the children to Wal-Mart and pairs each child with an officer. Each chills is allowed $150.00 to spend. Each child has to purchase a winter coat and the remaining amount can be spent on anything that the child desires. The children are then brought back to the police department and the we provide a pizza party for them.

Money is raised during the year from several fundraisers. The police department sells concessions at the yearly "hoops" tournament, a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. The police department also has a raffle at the "Fourth of July" celebration. The police department hosts a Gospel singing event that takes place at Friendship Chapel Church in Wake Forest. Two of the police department's detective's are members of gospel groups that organize and perform at the event.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS

The Wake Forest Police Department is a proud sponsor of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. The department raises funds through donations, events, and the sales of Torch Run merchandise such as t-shirts and hats. The Wake Forest Police Department believes Special Olympics North Carolina is a worthy cause and has proudly participated in this fundraiser for over 7 years. All monies raised by the department are donated directly to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. In 2004 The Law Enforcement Torch Run raised more than $20.5 million for Special Olympics Programs around the world. The funds raised allows Special Olympics North Carolina to provide year-round sports training and competition for more than 37,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in communities throughout the state. It is one of the largest Special Olympics programs in the world in terms of athlete participation.

DARE PROGRAM

The Wake Forest Police Department hosts an annual car show that raises money to provide our DARE program with resources to purchase each graduating dare participant with certificates, t-shirts, and other awards. Our DARE program is offered to elementary schools and middle schools, grades 5th and 7th . Currently Sergeant Richard Brown is the DARE instructor and has held that position for 5 years.

POLICE CHAPLAIN

The Wake Forest Police Department has two police chaplains, Sergeant Richard Brown and Officer Mike Lawson. The chaplains are available 24 hours a day to all officers and the community to assist during and after any critical incident.
