The Wake Forest Police Department (WFPD) raises money during the year to provide a joyous Christmas to local disadvantaged children. Then, on one day each year in December, members of the police department "partner" with a child and accompany him or her to the local Wal-Mart, where each child is given over $150 to spend. Each child must use a portion of the money to purchase a winter coat, but the remaining amount can be spent on anything the child desires. The children are then brought back to the police department for an enjoyable pizza party.
WFPD sponsors several fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for Shop With A Cop. The department sells concessions at the yearly Wake Forest Hoops three-on-three basketball tournament, and sponsors a raffle at the "Fourth of July" celebration.
WFPD also hosts an annual gospel singing event at Friendship Chapel Church in Wake Forest.
