NEW WATER AND SEWER BILLS EXPLAINED
WAKE FOREST, NC – August 3, 2005 – On July 1, the City of Raleigh and the Town of Wake Forest merged their water and sewer systems. Since then, the Town has received numerous phone calls from local residents concerning the water and sewer utility bills they have received from the City of Raleigh. Many have questioned the origin of the administrative fees being charged for water and sewer in addition to the standard consumption charges. The administrative fee line items have caused many citizens to conclude that their bills have increased as a result of the merger.
Drew Brown, Customer Service Supervisor for the Town of Wake Forest, says that’s not the case.
“Prior to the merger, our utility bill combined those (administrative and usage) charges,” said Brown. “The Raleigh bill breaks down the water and sewer charges into two separate items – an administration fee and a consumption charge. Ultimately, the rates are the same.”
Brown said anyone having questions about their bill should contact the City of Raleigh at (919) 890-3245.
