This year's Herb of the Year is Cilantro and the promoters of the Wake Forest HerbFest promise to have the biggest supply they have ever had of Cilantro this year. Each day will also feature a recipe of the day featuring the popular culinary herb. The Annual event will feature a variety of vendors appealing to those interested in gardening, home, cooking and a healthy lifestyle as well as the largest selection of herbs to be found in one place. On Saturday, April 22, Earth Day, the Weekend Gardner Radio Program from WPTF will broadcast live, with hosts Mike Raley and Ann Clapp, as well as Rufus Edmisten, fielding gardening questions and sharing tips and stories from 8-11 am. From 11 am-1 pm the Franklin Academy Band will entertain the crowd. Other live musicians will entertain throughout the weekend dates. HerbFest is a free, family-friendly event and will take place rain or shine. The event is the annual fundraiser for the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment, a 401(k) non-profit organization which brings arts education and public art projects to local schools and the community.
