Understanding the Town's Employment Application Process

To be considered for an opportunity with The Town of Wake Forest, you must complete a separate Employment Application for each position for which you are applying. Resumes alone do not qualify as an application and will not be considered unless attached to a fully completed Town of Wake Forest Employment Application. We only accept and consider Employment Applications for currently posted positions. Please check our job line 919-435-9498 or this website for a current list of our posted positions. You may download an application from this website or obtain one at Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest, NC 27587. You may also call 919-435-9492 to have an application mailed to you. Applications must be received by mail, delivered to Town Hall or emailed to HumanResources@wakeforestnc.gov by 5 p.m. on the closing day. All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening. EOE/ADA. Once submitted, application materials become the property of the Town.

When we receive an application, we send out a post card to each applicant to confirm receipt and to ensure consideration.  To check on the status of a position, please scroll down to the bottom of this page for additional information.  All qualified applications are forwarded to the hiring department and as soon as we hear from the hiring manager, we update both this webpage and our job line. Unless there is an update posted, applications are still being reviewed.  For general employees, we will contact you within two weeks of the position closing date if we are planning to pursue your candidacy.  Our hiring process takes longer for police officers, however, we will contact you within three months of receiving your application if we are interested in pursuing your candidacy.

  • Senior Code Enforcement Officer  (Inspections Department)
    Application Deadline: Open until filled
    Minimum Starting Salary: $51,678 - $59,822

    We are seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Senior Code Enforcement Officer. The position involves plan review and inspection of work in progress. The ideal candidate will posses a Level III certification in building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical. Employee will maintain records of inspections and prepare necessary reports to the Inspections Director.
  • Tree Trimming Technician I (Tree Trimming Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $36,726

    We are looking for a team member to work near energized conductors/high voltage lines and operate specialized, heavy forestry/arboricultural vehicles and equipment working from an aerial lift and/or climbing trees and skillfully using power hand tools to perform multiple tree pruning, removal, planting and maintenance functions within an urban forestry program. Work is performed on street rights-of way, in parks, in sewer outfalls, and around Town facilities and land holdings. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment under general supervision. This position also requires responses to emergency tree maintenance needs, which sometimes occur after normal business hours. Class A CDL required. Line Clearance Tree Trimmer Certification within 6 months of hire required. Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
  • Energy & Line Location Specialist (Electric Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest is seeking an enthusiastic individual for the position of Energy Auditor and Line Location Specialist with our Public Works Department, Electric Division. Duties will include but are not limited to: performing line locates to identify underground electrical lines and the continued development and implementation of the Town's residential energy auditing program. The successful candidate will be very comfortable with public interaction as this position enjoys a high degree of citizen contact including the creation and execution of Energy Fair presentations. This position reports to the Electric Meter Supervisor however, work is performed independently therefore the selected candidate will be expected to exercise discretion and sound decision-making. All work is performed in the presence of energized electrical lines. Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. 
  • Construction Worker II (Streets Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $31,725

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires experience in construction work and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must have experience in skilled construction equipment operation and supervisory experience. Valid Class A CDL and street flagging certification is required.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. 
  • Part-Time Facility Attendant (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is accepting applications for the position Part-Time Facility Attendant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for effectively supervising patrons and activities at various Town facilities, maintaining records and reports, monitoring use of equipment to ensure patron's safety, general maintenance & upkeep of facilities and the opening and closing of facilities. Night and weekend work required, hours worked as needed.
  • Police Officers (Public Safety Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified officers to join our Public Safety Department. Selected individuals will perform general law enforcement work to protect life and property within the Town of Wake Forest corporate limits. A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with a valid NC Drivers License. Applicants must have no criminal record and need to submit a background check, a polygraph, a physical and psychological screening. North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) required. Only applicants with NCBLET Certification will be considered. Shift work required.
  • Telecommunicator (Public Safety Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $34,977

    The Town of Wake Forest is seeking team-player to receive emergency and routine calls for police assistance and general information. The ideal candidate must be able to dispatch police units, operate a variety of electronic equipment and answer several incoming calls at one time. Work requires frequent public contact that will require tact, firmness, decisiveness, and judgment in order to obtain necessary information from people who are under extreme stress. Must be able to multi-task and choose appropriate courses of action in a rapid and efficient manner. DCI operator certification is preferred and a thorough background investigation will be conducted, as this is a highly sensitive position. High school diploma or equivalent required. Work schedule: 12 hour shifts rotating days and nights every two (2) weeks, working four (4) days on and four (4) days off (will require some nights, weekends and holidays.) This is an essential position for purposes of inclement weather.
  • Electric Powerline Technician III (Electric Department)

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform skilled journey level work.  Duties include but are not limited to: construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical power distribution systems. Position requires considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved in power line work. The ideal candidate will have the ability to climb poles, work on high voltage lines under supervision, and take precautionary measures to avoid accidents. Valid Class A CDL and considerable experience required. This is an essential position for purposes of inclement weather.  Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
