To be considered for an opportunity with The Town of Wake Forest, you must complete a separate Employment Application for each position for which you are applying. Resumes alone do not qualify as an application and will not be considered unless attached to a fully completed Town of Wake Forest Employment Application. Applications must be received by mail, delivered to Town Hall or emailed to HumanResources@wakeforestnc.gov by 5 p.m. on the closing day. All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening. When we receive an application, we send out a post card to each applicant to confirm receipt and to ensure consideration.  To check on the status of a position, please scroll down to the bottom of this page for additional information.  All qualified applications are forwarded to the hiring department and as soon as we hear from the hiring manager, we update both this webpage and our job line. Unless there is an update posted, applications are still being reviewed.  For general employees, we will contact you within two weeks of the position closing date if we are planning to pursue your candidacy.  Our hiring process takes longer for police officers, however, we will contact you within three months of receiving your application if we are interested in pursuing your candidacy.

  • Office Assistant I (Renaissance Centre for the Arts)
    Application Deadline: July 6, 2016
    Minimum Starting Salary: $30,214

    The Town of Wake Forest  seeks an Office Assistant for the Renaissance Centre for the Arts. Job duties will include word processing, data entry, filing and customer service via phone, e mail and in-person. This position will be responsible for ticket sales, providing tours of the facility, accepting class registrations, booking rental reservations and collecting fees. Other duties include: financial quote preparations, calendar and website postings, overseeing the clerical aspect of the donor/sponsorship program, assisting with marketing and fundraising efforts, assisting with the preparation and distribution of marketing materials, helping with events as necessary including the set up and break down. Work is performed under the supervision of the Centre Manager and is evaluated through observation, conferences and the quality and effectiveness of work completed. Minimum Qualifications include: high school diploma or equivalent, 2-3 years of verifiable work experience in a clerical or administrative assistant role, an intermediate/advanced degree of proficiency creating  and maintaining word processing and spreadsheet documents, 2-3 years of verifiable work experience offering exceptional customer service. Preferred Qualifications include: verifiable experience in marketing, public relations, event promotion and/or venue fundraising. The ideal candidate will be available days and occasional evenings and weekends.
     
  • Recreation Specialist: Specialized Programs (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is accepting applications for the position of Recreation Specialist: Specialized Programs. This position will be responsible for special needs program development, implementation and supervision. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communications skills and experience working with youth and adults with special needs. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in therapeutic recreation, physical education or related field required. Night and weekend work required. Working knowledge of ADA compliance rules and regulations required.
     
  • Urban Forestry Technician (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $36,726

    The Town of Wake Forest  is accepting applications for the position of Urban Forestry Technician. The individual selected for this position will assist in planting, pruning, removal, and general maintenance of trees on Town maintained property. This position will also be responsible for collecting and maintaining tree inventory data, maintaining a volunteer tree nursery, conducting landscaping inspections, and assisting with educational and volunteer events. Work will primarily be performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. Occasional office work will also be necessary, particularly during periods of inclement weather. Office responsibilities may include maintaining a tree inventory database, generating work orders, and conducting research and/or creating reports and documents. An Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree, followed by two or more years of work experience in the areas of arboriculture, forestry or horticulture is required. International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist designation is preferred. A valid NC Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is required. Successful candidates will exhibit a keen attention to detail along with the ability to work independently.
     
  • Construction Worker II (Streets Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $31,725

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires experience in construction work and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must have experience in skilled construction equipment operation and supervisory experience. Valid Class A CDL required.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. 
     
  • Tree Trimming Technician I (Tree Trimming Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $36,726

    We are looking for a dynamic team player to work near energized conductors/high voltage lines and operate specialized, heavy forestry/arboricultural vehicles and equipment working from an aerial lift and/or climbing trees and skillfully using power hand tools to perform multiple tree pruning, removal, planting and maintenance functions within an urban forestry program. Work is performed on street rights-of-way, in parks, in sewer outfalls, and around Town facilities and land holdings. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment under general supervision. This position also requires responses to emergency tree maintenance needs, which are sometimes after normal business hours. Class A CDL required. Line Clearance Tree Trimming Certification within 6 months of hire required. Hours of work: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm.
     
  • Police Officers (Public Safety Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $40,490

    The Town of Wake Forest Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified officers to join our Public Safety Department. Selected individuals will perform general law enforcement work to protect life and property within the Town of Wake Forest corporate limits. A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with a valid NC Drivers License. Applicants must have no criminal record and need to submit a background check, a polygraph, a physical and psychological screening. North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) required. Only applicants with NCBLET Certification will be considered. Shift work required.
     
  • Telecommunicator (Public Safety Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $34,977

    The Town of Wake Forest is seeking team-player to receive emergency and routine calls for police assistance and general information. The ideal candidate must be able to dispatch police units, operate a variety of electronic equipment and answer several incoming calls at one time. Work requires frequent public contact that will require tact, firmness, decisiveness, and judgment in order to obtain necessary information from people who are under extreme stress. Must be able to multi-task and choose appropriate courses of action in a rapid and efficient manner. DCI operator certification is preferred and a thorough background investigation will be conducted, as this is a highly sensitive position. High school diploma or equivalent required. Work schedule: 12 hour shifts rotating days and nights every two (2) weeks, working four (4) days on and four (4) days off (will require some nights, weekends and holidays.) This is an essential position for purposes of inclement weather.
     
  • Construction Worker III (Streets Department)

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires extensive construction experience, operation of equipment at a high skill level, leading of work crews in the absence of a crew supervisor, and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must have experience in skilled construction equipment operation and supervisory experience. Valid Class A CDL and street flagging certification is required.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. 
     
  • Electric Powerline Technician III (Electric Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $44,641
    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform skilled journey level work.  Duties include but are not limited to: construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical power distribution systems. Position requires considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved in power line work. The ideal candidate will have the ability to climb poles, work on high voltage lines under supervision, and take precautionary measures to avoid accidents. Valid Class A CDL and considerable experience required. This is an essential position for purposes of inclement weather.  Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
