Understanding the Town's Employment Application Process

To be considered for an opportunity with The Town of Wake Forest, you must complete a separate Employment Application for each position for which you are applying. Resumes alone do not qualify as an application and will not be considered unless attached to a fully completed Town of Wake Forest Employment Application. We only accept and consider Employment Applications for currently posted positions. Please check our job line 919-435-9498 or this website for a current list of our posted positions. You may download an application from this website or obtain one at Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest, NC 27587. You may also call 919-435-9492 to have an application mailed to you. Applications must be received by mail, delivered to Town Hall or emailed to Virginia Jones by 5 p.m. on the closing day. All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening. EOE/ADA. Once submitted, application materials become the property of the Town.

When we receive an application, we send out a post card to each applicant to confirm receipt and to ensure consideration.  To check on the status of a position, please scroll down to the bottom of this page for additional information.  All qualified applications are forwarded to the hiring department and as soon as we hear from the hiring manager, we update both this webpage and our job line. Unless there is an update posted, applications are still being reviewed.  For general employees, we will contact you within two weeks of the position closing date if we are planning to pursue your candidacy.  Our hiring process takes longer for police officers, however, we will contact you within three months of receiving your application if we are interested in pursuing your candidacy.

  • Accountant (Finance Department)
    Application Deadline: July 17, 2015
    Minimum Starting Salary: $41,886

    We are seeking an enthusiastic team member to perform professional accounting work with a high degree of independence with accounting and financial activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive working knowledge in the following areas: accounts payable, payroll, account reconciliations, treasury management, reporting and analytical work. This employee will also perform a variety of other responsibilities related to general ledger. This position will report directly to the Financial Operations Manager. A two or four-year college degree in accounting, finance, business or related field required. Candidates with prior governmental and fund accounting experience as well  as two to five years cash management experience are strongly preferred.
  • Construction Worker II (Streets Department)

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires experience in construction work and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions . Applicants must also have experience in skilled equipment operation and supervisory experience is preferred. Valid Class A CDL is required. Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
  • Construction Worker III (Streets Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $34,459

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires extensive construction experience,  operation of equipment at a high skill level, leading of work crews in the absence of a crew supervisor, and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must have experience in skilled construction equipment operation and supervisory experience. Valid Class A CDL and street flagging certification is required. Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
  • Street Crew Supervisor (Streets Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $39,891

    We are looking for a highly motivated team member with experience in skilled equipment operation and supervision of a crew. Must be able to operate a variety of heavy and assist the crew with a variety of jobs including patching potholes, repairing sidewalks, curbs, gutters and driveway aprons. This individual will also perform semi-skilled & skilled work in street maintenance, right of way maintenance, construction & maintenance of storm sewers and miscellaneous work. Applicants must be able to read, write and exert up to 100 pounds of force with exposure to all weather conditions. A good driving record is essential. Considerable construction experience and a Class A CDL required.  Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00a.m. - 3:30p.m.

    We are looking for a team member to perform apprenticed lineman entry level work in the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of electrical distribution lines. High School Diploma/GED, ability to obtain a NC Class A CDL within 6 months of hire required.  Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00a.m. - 3:30p.m.
  • Part-Time Recreation Center Supervisor (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $11.49/hour

    We are currently accepting applications for a team member to work at the Alston-Massenburg Center located in the Town of Wake Forest. The ideal candidate must be available to work approximately 20 hours per week between the hours of 2:00pm-8:00pm Monday-Friday. Night and weekend work may be required. The employee in this position will perform a variety of complex duties in the operation and supervision of a community-based recreational facility for the Town of Wake Forest. This position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of various activities and services administered by the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department. Areas of assignments will include assisting with Special Events, Preschool and Youth Programs, Athletics, Adult Programs, and Senior Programs. The selected candidate will be expected to obtain the following certifications within six months of hire: First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
  • Lifeguards (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department)

    We are  currently accepting applications for lifeguards to work at Holding Park pool. Minimum qualifications include: First Aid/CPR and American Red Cross Lifeguard certifications. All applicants will be subject to a comprehensive background screening. Work schedule is approximately 25 hours-30 hours per week from late May-mid-August.
  • Transportation Planner (Planning Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest is seeking a candidate to join our Planning Department. The ideal candidate will have experience in transportation planning & design, right of way coordination, grant writing, and project management. We are seeking a staff person that can assist with Capital Improvement Project implementation for various transportation projects (roadway, sidewalk, greenway, etc.). Coordination with residents, other departments within the Town, external agencies, contractors and elected officials required. Work will require excellent verbal and written skills, great attention to detail and working independently. A Bachelor's Degree in planning, civil engineering or related field required. A Master's Degree in Transportation or related field and a minimum of 3 years relevant planning experience preferred. Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 8:00a.m. -5:00p.m. 
  • Police Officer (Public Safety Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified officers to join our Police Department. Selected individuals will perform general law enforcement work to protect life and property within the Town of Wake Forest corporate limits. A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with a valid NC Drivers License. Applicants must have no criminal record and need to submit to a background check, a polygraph, a physical and psychological screening. North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) required. Only applicants with NCBLET Certification will be considered. Shift work required.
