Understanding the Town's Employment Application Process

To be considered for an opportunity with The Town of Wake Forest, you must complete a separate Employment Application for each position for which you are applying. Resumes alone do not qualify as an application and will not be considered unless attached to a fully completed Town of Wake Forest Employment Application. We only accept and consider Employment Applications for currently posted positions. Please check our job line 919-435-9498 or this website for a current list of our posted positions. You may download an application from this website or obtain one at Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest, NC 27587. You may also call 919-435-9492 to have an application mailed to you. Applications must be received by mail, delivered to Town Hall or emailed to Virginia Jones by 5 p.m. on the closing day. All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening. EOE/ADA. Once submitted, application materials become the property of the Town.

When we receive an application, we send out a post card to each applicant to confirm receipt and to ensure consideration.  To check on the status of a position, please scroll down to the bottom of this page for additional information.  All qualified applications are forwarded to the hiring department and as soon as we hear from the hiring manager, we update both this webpage and our job line. Unless there is an update posted, applications are still being reviewed.  For general employees, we will contact you within two weeks of the position closing date if we are planning to pursue your candidacy.  Our hiring process takes longer for police officers, however, we will contact you within three months of receiving your application if we are interested in pursuing your candidacy.

  • Construction Worker III (Streets Department)
    Application Deadline: Open until filled
    Minimum Starting Salary: $33,619

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires extensive construction experience, operation of equipment at a high skill level, leading of work crews in the absence of a crew supervisor, and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write and follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must have experience in skilled construction equipment operation and supervisory experience. Valid Class A CDL and street flagging certification is required. Hours of work: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30p.m.
  • Construction Inspector (Engineering Department)
    Application Deadline: December 12, 2014
    Minimum Starting Salary: $45,052

    We are seeking a team member to perform responsible work in inspection of Erosion Control measures, Post-Construction Stormwater BMP's, streets, greenways, sidewalks and appurtenances to enforce local and state laws, ordinances and standards. The ideal candidate will review plans, interact with engineers, contractors and builders to review specifications and other requirements, and inspect construction in progress and upon completion. Additional duties include providing design, surveying and other engineering support. Experience in FHWA, NCDOT and Locally Administered Projects Program (LAPP) CEI working including but not limited to; inspections, documentation, pay record interviewing and reporting is required. Graduation from a 2-year technical school in civil engineering, drafting, design or related field and two years related inspections experience or equivalent combination preferred. Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m.
  • Parks & Recreation Maintenance Specialist (Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department)

    We are seeking a team member to perform a variety of tasks in landscaping, horticulture and maintenance primarily on Town Greenways. The ideal candidate will operate equipment to mow lawns, trim shrubs, landscape, paint, repair fences & gates, and remove debris. Some carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical and weekend work may be required. 
  • Part-Time Audiovisual Technician  (Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest seeking a knowledgeable and professional individual for the position of Part-Time Audiovisual Technician. This position will work primarily at the Renaissance Centre. Responsibilities include the setup and operation of a digital soundboard, microphones, speakers, video screens, projectors and all lighting equipment. The selected candidate must be able to successfully fulfill the multimedia needs of a wide range of clients utilizing the Renaissance Centre for their special events. When necessary the A/V Technician will review technical riders for artists and coordinate with production managers. This position will have flexible daytime hours with some evenings and weekends. Minimum qualifications include 2-5 years of verifiable experience as an A/V Technician.
  • Yard Waste Collector (Environmental Services Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $25,087

    We are  looking for a team member to perform routine work in yard waste collection and the delivery of Solid Waste and Recycling carts. The ideal candidate will operate construction equipment including trucks, dump trucks, knuckle boom trucks, compactor trucks and other medium and light equipment. This person will serve on a crew to collect yard waste such as limbs, grass clippings and leaves. Must have ability to work cooperatively as a team member and respond courteously to citizens. Valid NCDL required, Class B CDL preferred. Must be able to read, write and exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently and 20 pounds constantly. Hours of work: Monday -Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm.
  • Electric Powerline Technician III (Electric Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $42,907

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform skilled journey level work. Duties include but are not limited to: construction, maintenance and repair of electrical power distribution systems. Position requires considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved in power line work. The ideal candidate will have the ability to climb poles, work on high voltage lines under supervision and take precautionary measures to avoid accidents. Valid Class A CDL & considerable experience required. Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
