Understanding the Town's Employment Application Process

To Apply 
To be considered for an opportunity with The Town of Wake Forest, you must complete a separate Employment Application for each position for which you are applying. Resumes alone do not qualify as an application and will not be considered unless attached to a fully completed Town of Wake Forest Employment Application. We only accept and consider Employment Applications for currently posted positions. Please check our job line 919-435-9498 or this website for a current list of our posted positions. You may download an application from this website or obtain one at Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest, NC 27587. You may also call 919-435-9492 to have an application mailed to you. Applications must be received by mail, delivered to Town Hall or emailed to HumanResources@wakeforestnc.gov by 5 p.m. on the closing day. All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening. EOE/ADA. Once submitted, application materials become the property of the Town.

When we receive an application, we send out a post card to each applicant to confirm receipt and to ensure consideration.  To check on the status of a position, please scroll down to the bottom of this page for additional information.  All qualified applications are forwarded to the hiring department and as soon as we hear from the hiring manager, we update both this webpage and our job line. Unless there is an update posted, applications are still being reviewed.  For general employees, we will contact you within two weeks of the position closing date if we are planning to pursue your candidacy.  Our hiring process takes longer for police officers, however, we will contact you within three months of receiving your application if we are interested in pursuing your candidacy.

  • Construction Worker I (Streets Department)
    Application Deadline: Open until filled
    Minimum Starting Salary: $28,349

    We are seeking a motivated team member to maintain public grounds, cemeteries, and rights-of-way. Maintenance work includes mowing, trimming and cleaning debris. Work is performed primarily outside even in extreme hot and cold conditions. Some lower level construction work required. Valid Class B CDL  required. Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
     
  • Part-Time Specialized Recreation Programs Coordinator (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $12.06/hour

    The Town of Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is accepting applications for a Part-Time Specialized Recreation Programs Coordinator. This position will be responsible for special needs program development, implementation and supervision. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills and experience working with youth and adults with special needs. College level course work in physical education, therapeutic education or a combination of experience and education required. Night and weekend work required.
     
  • Construction Worker II (Streets Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $31,255

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires experience in construction work and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must also have experience in skilled construction equipment operation and supervisory experience. Valid Class A CDL required. Hours of work: 7:00a.m. - 3:30p.m.
     
  • Police Officers (Public Safety Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $39,891

    The Town of Wake Forest Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified officers to join our Public Safety Department. Selected individuals will perform general law enforcement work to protect life and property within the Town of Wake Forest corporate limits. A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with a valid NC Drivers License. Applicants must have no criminal record and need to submit a background check, a polygraph, a physical and psychological screening. North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) required. Only applicants with NCBLET Certification will be considered. Shift work required.
     
  • Lifeguards (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $8.25/hour

    We are currently accepting applications for Lifeguards to work at Holding Park Pool. Minimum qualifications include First Aid/CPR and American Red Cross Lifeguard certifications. All applicants will be subject to a comprehensive background screening. Work schedule is approximately 25-30 hours per week from mate May to mid August.
     
  • Telecommunicator (Public Safety Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest is seeking an enthusiastic  team-player to receive incoming routine and emergency calls and requests for service concerning emergencies and general information. The ideal candidate must be able to operate a variety of electronic equipment, multi-task and answer several incoming calls at once. Considerable public contact required. DCI operator certification is preferred and a thorough background investigation will be conducted, as this a highly sensitive position. High school diploma or equivalent required. Work schedule: 12 hour shifts, 4 days on & 4 days off.
     
  • Construction Worker III (Streets Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $34,459

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform a variety of labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks/curbs and storm drainage. This position requires extensive construction experience, operation of equipment at a high skill level, leading of work crews in the absence of a crew supervisor, and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must have experience in skilled construction equipment operation and supervisory experience. Valid Class A CDL and street flagging certification is required.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. 
     
  • Electric Powerline Technician III (Electric Department) 
    Application Deadline: Open until filled 

    Minimum Starting Salary: $43,980 
    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform skilled journey level work.  Duties include but are not limited to: construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical power distribution systems. Position requires considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved in power line work. The ideal candidate will have the ability to climb poles, work on high voltage lines under supervision, and take precautionary measures to avoid accidents. Valid Class A CDL and considerable experience required. This is an essential position for purposes of inclement weather.  Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
