To be considered for an opportunity with The Town of Wake Forest, you must complete a separate Employment Application for each position for which you are applying. Resumes alone do not qualify as an application and will not be considered unless attached to a fully completed Town of Wake Forest Employment Application. Applications must be received by mail, delivered to Town Hall or emailed to Virginia Jones by 5 p.m. on the closing day. All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening. EOE/ADA.   • Town Manager (Administration Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest, NC, is seeking an innovative Town Manager committed to community accessibility, working effectively within the Council-Manager form of government, and partnering with staff, community and Council alike to lead the Town in carrying out key initiatives. The new Town Manager must maintain and enhance an outstanding Council-Staff partnership and a commitment to the "small town" atmosphere desired by Citizens despite the Town's inclusion in a larger metropolitan environment. This position is open due to the retirement of our long-time manager. The successful candidate must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and 5-7 years increasingly responsible professional experience in municipal government management at the level of Assistant Town Manager or Town Manager in a comparable sized local government organization or at the department head level in a larger organization. Familiarity with NC municipal management is preferred. A Master's degree is also preferred. ICMA credentialing is a plus. Must have a proven track record in effective budget development and management, execution of capitol improvement projects, economic development, intergovernmental relations, personal community accessibility and engagement in professional organizations. Salary range and Application Process: Hiring range is $140,000-$190,000 with negation within the range based on credentials and experience. There is a residency requirement within 12 months of appointment.   • Summer Day Camp Program Director (Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $12.06/hour

    We are currently accepting applications for a Temporary Summer Camp Program Director to plan and implement summer camp activities. Responsibilities include: overseeing the daily functions of the program, supervising staff, and providing directions to instructors. This camp program operates on a full-day schedule with activities including arts & crafts, sports and creative dance for participants ages 6-12. Additional responsibilities consist of general facility upkeep and maintenance of records and logs. Minimum qualifications include: a valid NC Driver's License, High School Diploma or GED, and possession of First Aid and CPR certifications before camps begin. Preferred qualifications include: 2 + years of experience as a teacher, teacher's aide or childcare provider. Progressive employment experience in a camp setting will also be considered.     We are currently accepting applications for Temporary, Summer Camp Counselors to perform a variety of activities with camp participants ages 6-12. Successful candidates are dependable, conscientious, and work best a part of a team. Counselors work under the direction of camp management staff. Minimum qualifications include: High School Diploma or GED or (3) teacher reference letters, Valid NC Drivers License.     We are currently accepting applications for Temporary Maintenance Workers. Responsibilities include picking up trash in parks and maintaining restroom facilities. Position begins late May and ends early August. Work schedule is anticipated to be approximately 20-30 hours per week. Evening and weekend work is required. Minimum qualifications include: High School Diploma or GED or (3) teacher reference letters, Valid NC Drivers License. All applicants will be subject to a comprehensive background screening.
  • Urban Forestry Program Specialist (Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $11.49/hour

    We are currently seeking a part-time Urban Forestry Specialist to help maintain the health and beauty of Wake Forest's public trees. The Specialist will assist the Urban Forestry Coordinator with planting, maintaining, pruning and removing trees throughout town, managing tree inventory data, and helping with educational and volunteer events. Work will be primarily performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, and involve standing, walking, kneeling, using hand and power tools, exerting up to 50 lbs. of force and safely operating a full-size pickup truck. Occasional office work will also be necessary, particularly during periods of inclement weather. Office responsibilities may include conducting research and/or creating reports and documents. Uniforms and opportunities for professional development, training, and networking will be provided. A High School diploma or equivalent, followed by two or more years of work experience in the areas of forestry or horticulture is required. Two or more years of forestry related college coursework may be substituted for work experience. A degree in one of the above mentioned fields or five + years of relevant experience is preferred. A valid NC Driver License with an acceptable driving record is required. Successful candidates will exhibit a keen attention to detail along with the ability to work independently. Work schedule: 25 hours per week.
  • Lifeguards (Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department)

    We are currently accepting applications for Lifeguards to work at Holding Park Pool.  Minimum qualifications include: First Aid/CPR and American Red Cross Lifeguard certifications .   • Pool Concessions/Gate Monitor (Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department)

  • Tree Trimming Technician I  (Tree Trimming Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $35,300

    We are seeking a dynamic team player to work near energized conductors/high voltage lines and operate specialized, heavy forestry/arboricultural vehicles and equipment working from an aerial lift and/or climbing trees and skillfully using power hand tools to perform multiple tree pruning, removal, planting and maintenance functions within an urban forestry program. Work is performed on street right-of ways, in parks, in sewer outfalls, and around Town facilities and land holdings. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment under general supervision. This position also requires responses to emergency tree maintenance needs, which are sometimes after normal business hours. Class A CDL is required. Line Clearance Tree Certification is required within 6 months of employment. Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00a.m. - 3:30p.m.

    We are seeking a motivated team member for the position of Code Enforcement Officer I. This position involves plan review and inspection work in progress. The ideal candidate will maintain records of inspections and prepare necessary reports for the Chief Inspector.   • Part-Time Recreation Center Supervisor  (Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department)

    We are currently accepting applications for team members to work at Flaherty Park Community Center located in the Town of Wake Forest. The ideal candidate must be available to work approximately 30 hours a week 10:00am-4:00pm. Night and weekend work may be required. Performs a variety complex duties in the operation and supervision of a community-based recreational facility for the Town of Wake Forest. This position is responsible for assisting in the day to day supervision of various activities and services administered by the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department. Areas of assignments will include assisting with Special Events, Preschool and Youth Programs, Athletics, Adult Programs and Senior Programs. The selected candidate will be expected to obtain the following certifications within six months of hire: First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Construction Inspector (Engineering Department)

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform responsible technical work in inspection of Erosion Control measures, Post-Construction Stormwater BMP's streets, greenways, sidewalks and appurtenances to enforce local and state laws, ordinances and standards. The ideal candidate will review plans, interact with engineers, contractors and builders to review specifications and other requirements, and inspect construction in progress and upon completion. Additional duties include providing design, surveying and other engineering support. Experience in FHWA, NCDOT and Locally Administered Projects Program (LAPP) CEI work including, but not limited to; inspections, documentation, pay record interviewing and reporting is required. Graduation from a 2-year technical school in civil engineering, drafting, design or related field and extensive inspections experience or equivalent combination preferred. Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m.
