To be considered for an opportunity with The Town of Wake Forest, you must complete a separate Employment Application for each position for which you are applying. Resumes alone do not qualify as an application and will not be considered unless attached to a fully completed Town of Wake Forest Employment Application. You may download an application from this website or obtain one at Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest, NC 27587. You may also call 919-435-9492 to have an application mailed to you. Applications must be received by mail, delivered to Town Hall or emailed to HumanResources@wakeforestnc.gov by 5 p.m. on the closing day. All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening. When we receive an application, we send out a post card to each applicant to confirm receipt and to ensure consideration.  To check on the status of a position, please scroll down to the bottom of this page for additional information.  All qualified applications are forwarded to the hiring department and as soon as we hear from the hiring manager, we update both this webpage and our job line. Unless there is an update posted, applications are still being reviewed.  For general employees, we will contact you within two weeks of the position closing date if we are planning to pursue your candidacy.  Our hiring process takes longer for police officers, however, we will contact you within three months of receiving your application if we are interested in pursuing your candidacy.

  • Transportation Planner (Planning Department)
    Application Deadline: Open until filled
    Minimum Starting Salary: $50,912-$60,000

    The Town of Wake Forest is seeking a candidate to join our Planning Department. The ideal candidate will have experience in transportation planning & design, right of way coordination, grant writing,  and project management. We are seeking a staff person that can assist with Capital Improvement Project implementation for various transportation projects (roadway, sidewalk, greenway, etc.) Coordination with residents, other departments within the Town, external agencies, contractors and elected officials required. Work will require excellent verbal and written skills, great attention to detail and working independently. A Bachelor's Degree in planning, civil engineering or related field required. Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm.
  • Part-time Economic Development Coordinator (Administration Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $26.92/hour

    The Town of Wake Forest seeks a qualified part-time economic development coordinator who will focus on the Town's business recruitment and retention efforts. The ideal candidate must be available to work approximately 20 hours per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing projects and programs that support commercial, office and industrial development; business attraction; business retention; development of public facilities and infrastructure; small business development initiatives; and other economic development, redevelopment or capital improvement programs or projects. A Bachelor's Degree in economic development, business attraction and/or development research experience preferred. Proficiency in the use of the Internet, the use of computer software programs ( i.e., word processing, Excel, Access, Power Point) and grants contract administration also preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities of this job, may be considered at the discretion of Town management.
  • Electric Groundman (Electric Department)

    We are looking for a team member to perform apprenticed lineman entry level work in the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of electrical distribution lines. High school Diploma/GED, ability to obtain a NC Class "A" CDL within 6 months of hire required. Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00a.m.- 3:30p.m.
  • Senior Code Enforcement Officer (Inspections Department)

    We are seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Senior Code Enforcement Officer. The position involves plan review and inspection of work in progress. The ideal candidate will possess a Level III certification in building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical. Employee will maintain records of inspections and prepare necessary reports for the Inspections Director.
  • Electric Powerline Technician III (Electric Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $43,980

    We are seeking a motivated team member to perform skilled journey level work.  Duties include but are not limited to: construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical power distribution systems. Position requires considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved in power line work. The ideal candidate will have the ability to climb poles, work on high voltage lines under supervision, and take precautionary measures to avoid accidents. Valid Class A CDL and considerable experience required. This is an essential position for purposes of inclement weather.  Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
  • Part Time Recreation Supervisor  (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department)

    We are currently accepting applications for a team member to work at the Flaherty Park Community Center located in the Town of Wake Forest. The ideal candidate must be available to work approximately 20 hours a week 4:00 pm-9:00 pm Monday - Friday. Night and weekend work may be required. The employee in this position will perform a variety of complex duties in the operation and supervision of a community based recreational facility for the Town of Wake Forest. This position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day supervision of various activities and services administered by the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department.  Areas of assignment will include assisting with Special Events, Preschool and Youth Programs, Athletics, Adult Programs and Senior Programs.  The selected candidate will be expected to obtain the following certifications within six months of hire:  First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
  • Police Officer (Public Safety Department)

    The Town of Wake Forest Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified officers to join our Public Safety Department. Selected individuals will perform general law enforcement work to protect life and property within the Town of Wake Forest corporate limits. A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with a valid NC Driver's License. Applicants must have no criminal record and need to submit to a background check, a polygraph, a physical and psychological screening. North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) required. Only applicants with NCBLET Certification will be considered. Shift work required.
  • Part Time Event Staff (Renaissance Centre)

    The Town of Wake Forest seeks Part-Time Event Staff for Renaissance Centre for Arts to perform a wide range of duties. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule primarily daytime hours with occasional nights and weekends. Duties will include but are not limited to: moving tables and chairs to create and subsequently tear down various room layouts, formal and informal place settings, ticket collection, concession sales, coat check, clearing tables, beverage service and most importantly providing excellent guest services. Applicants with prior work experience as service staff preferred.
  • Street Crew Supervisor (Streets Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $39,891

    We are looking for a highly motivated team member with experience in skilled equipment operation and supervision of a crew. Must be able to operate a variety of heavy equipment and assist the crew with a variety of jobs including patching potholes, repairing sidewalks, curbs, gutters and driveway aprons. This individual will also perform semi-skilled work in street maintenance, right of way maintenance, construction & maintenance  of storm sewers and miscellaneous work. Applicants must be able to read, write, and exert up to 100 pounds of force with exposure to all weather conditions. A good driving record is essential. Considerable related construction experience and Class A CDL required. This is an essential position for purposes of inclement weather.  Hours of work: Monday -Friday, 7:00a.m.- 3:30p.m.
