To be considered for an opportunity with The Town of Wake Forest, you must complete a separate Employment Application for each position for which you are applying. Resumes alone do not qualify as an application and will not be considered unless attached to a fully completed Town of Wake Forest Employment Application. Applications must be received by mail, delivered to Town Hall or emailed to HumanResources@wakeforestnc.gov by 5 p.m. on the closing day. All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening. Unless there is an update posted, applications are still being reviewed.  For general employees, we will contact you within two weeks of the position closing date if we are planning to pursue your candidacy.  Our hiring process takes longer for police officers, however, we will contact you within three months of receiving your application if we are interested in pursuing your candidacy.

  • Parks & Recreation Maintenance Superintendent (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department)
    Application Deadline: Open until filled
    Minimum Starting Salary: $50,912

    The Parks & Maintenance Superintendent prepares and administers the park maintenance division budget, resolves complaints from the public; is responsible for the overall implementation and effectiveness of assigned maintenance and operations programs; and coordinates maintenance activities interdepartmentally, and with other governmental and public/private agencies. This position manages a maintenance contract with Wake County Schools for shared facilities; develops bid packages for outside services and administers contracts. Microsoft Office experience is required. Evening and weekend work required. A Bachelor's degree in turf management, horticulture, recreation administration or related field and 5-7 years experience or an Associates degree with 7-10 years experience in maintenance work of grounds and facilities, park design, turf management, or related field, including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must posses a valid North Carolina driver's license and have the ability to obtain the following certifications: National Playground Safety Inspector's Certification and Pesticide license issued by the State of North Carolina. This is an essential position for the purposes of the Town's inclement weather policy.
  • Part Time Office Assistant  (Administration: Renaissance Centre)

    The Town of Wake Forest seeks a Part-Time Office Assistant for the Renaissance Centre for the Arts. Job duties include word processing, data entry, filing and customer service via phone, e mail and in-person. This position will be responsible for providing tours of the facility, accepting class registrations, booking rental reservations and collecting rental fees. Other duties include: invoice preparation, calendar and website management, overseeing the clerical aspect of donor/sponsorship program, assisting with marketing and fundraising efforts, assisting with the preparation of marketing materials, helping with events as necessary including set up and break down. Work is performed under the supervision of the Center Manager and is evaluated through observation, conferences and the quality and effectiveness of work completed. Minimum Qualifications include: high school diploma or equivalent, 2-3 years of verifiable work experience in a clerical or administrative assistant role, an intermediate/advanced degree of proficiency creating and maintaining word processing and spreadsheet documents, 2-3 years of verifiable work experience offering exceptional customer service. Preffered Qualifications include: verifiable experience in marketing, public relations, event promotion and/or venue fundraising. This position will work no more than 25 hours per week. The ideal candidate will be available days and occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Part Time Recreation Center Supervisor (Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department)

    We are currently accepting applications for a team member to work at the Alston-Massenburg Center located in the Town of Wake Forest. The ideal candidate must be available to work approximately 20 hours a week between the hours of 2:00pm-8:00pm Monday-Friday. Night and weekend work may be required. The employee in this position will perform a variety of complex duties in the operation and supervision of a community-based recreational facility for the Town of Wake Forest. This position is responsible for assisting in the day to day supervision of various activities and services administered by the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department. Areas of assignments will include assisting with Special Events, Preschool and Youth Programs, Athletics, Adult Programs, and Senior Programs. The selected candidate will be expected to obtain the following certifications with six months of hire: First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.

This position will responsible for special needs program development, implementation and supervision. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills and experience working with youth and adults with special needs. College level course work in physical education, therapeutic education or a combination of experience and education required. Night and weekend work required.

    The Town of Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is accepting applications for a Part-Time Special Events Coordinator. This position will responsible for coordinating and planning special events and activities to enhance the Town of Wake Forest community. Duties include but are not limited to volunteer and vendor coordination, event planning, event survey analysis and assistance with marketing material preparation. Previous event planning and public or community relations experience strongly preferred. Night and weekend work required.
  • Part Time Event Staff  (Administration: Renaissance Centre)

    The Town of Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is accepting applications for Part-Time Event Staff to execute a wide range of duties for the Renaissance Centre. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule primarily daytime hours with occasional nights and weekends. Duties will include but are not limited to: moving tables and chairs to create subsequently tear down various room layouts, formal and informal place settings, ticket collection, concession sales, coat check, clearing tables, beverage service and most importantly providing excellent guest services. Applicants with prior work experience as service staff preferred.
  • Energy & Line Location Specialist (Electric Department)

     The Town of Wake Forest is seeking an enthusiastic individual for the position of Energy Auditor and Line Location Specialist with our Public Works Department, Electric Division. Duties will include but are not limited to: performing line locates to identify underground electrical lines and the continued development and implementation of the Town's residential energy auditing program. The successful candidate will be very comfortable with public interaction as this position enjoys a high degree of citizen contact including the creation and execution of Energy Fair presentations. This position reports to the Electric Meter Supervisor however, work is performed independently therefore the selected candidate will be expected to exercise discretion and sound decision-making. All work is performed in the presence of energized electrical lines. Hours of work: 7:00am-3:30pm.
  • Street Crew Supervisor (Streets Department)

    We are looking for a highly motivated team member with experience in skilled equipment operation and supervision of a crew. Must be able to operate a variety of heavy equipment and assist the crew with a variety of jobs including patching potholes, repairing sidewalks, curbs, gutters and driveway aprons. This individual will also perform semi-skilled work in street maintenance, right of way maintenance, construction & maintenance  of storm sewers and miscellaneous work. Applicants must be able to read, write, and exert up to 100 pounds of force with exposure to all weather conditions. A good driving record is essential. Considerable related construction experience and Class A CDL required. Hours of work: Monday -Friday, 7:00a.m.- 3:30p.m.
  • Construction Worker III (Streets Department)

    We are looking for a highly motivated team member to perform a variety of tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalk/curb and storm drainage. This position requires extensive construction experience, operation of equipment at a high skill level, leading of work crews n the absence of a crew supervisor, and the ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely. Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions and exert up to 100 pounds of force and endure exposure to all weather conditions. Applicants must have experience in skilled construction equipment operation and supervisory experience. Valid Class A CDL and street flagging certification required.   Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00a.m. - 3:30p.m.
  • Yard Waste Equipment Operator (Environmental Services Department)

    Minimum Starting Salary: $29,767

    We are looking for a team member to perform responsible work in yard waste collection and the delivery of Solid Waste and Recycling Carts. The ideal candidate will operate construction equipment including trucks, dump trucks, knuckle boom truck, compactor truck and other medium and light equipment. This person will serve on a crew to collect yard waste such as limbs, grass clippings and leaves. Must have the ability to work cooperatively as a team member and respond courteously to citizens. Valid Class B CDL required. Must be able to read, write and exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently and 20 pounds of force constantly.  Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
