The Town of Wake Forest is pleased to welcome Downtown Revitalization Corporation (DRC) Executive Director Lisa Newhouse as its new downtown development director.
Newhouse’s transition from the DRC to the town became official today nearly four months after the Wake Forest Board of Commissioners agreed to bring the DRC executive director position in-house at the request of the organization’s board of directors. Beginning today, Newhouse will report to Town Manager Mark Williams. Her office and downtown development headquarters are located on the second floor in town hall.
The DRC’s board of directors will continue in its current capacity as a 501(c)(3) organization.
The 2010 Wake Forest Citizen of the Year, Newhouse has served as the DRC’s executive director since May 2011. Prior to joining the DRC she was employed at SunTrust Bank as a Vice President/Branch Manager for several years before becoming a Business Banking Relationship Manager.
“We are delighted to have Lisa onboard as the newest member of our management team,” said Williams.
“I am confident that her knowledge and experience, along with the relationships she has cultivated with downtown property owners and merchants, will be a tremendous asset in our continuing efforts to promote and enhance our historic downtown.”
Although the arrangement between the DRC and the town is changing, Newhouse is confident downtown merchants and property owners will not notice much of a difference in her day-to-day activities.
“With the exception of the physical move of my office to town hall and me becoming a town employee, not much else has changed,” said Newhouse. “I will continue to focus on downtown Wake Forest, and am available, as always, to provide assistance and support to all of our downtown businesses and property owners.”
Due to Newhouse’s relocation to town hall, she has been assigned a new telephone number and email address. The new telephone number is 919-435-9415 and the new email address is lnewhouse@wakeforestnc.gov.
