Area residents have until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, to apply for one of the vacancies on the Cemetery Advisory Board, Recreation Advisory Board, Senior Center Advisory Board, and Urban Forestry Board.
Wake Forest’s advisory boards were established to give citizens input into what happens in the community and to advise the Board of Commissioners on matters that affect citizens and their town government.
Applications are available at www.wakeforestnc.gov/Government/AdvisoryBoards.aspx. Completed applications may be mailed or delivered to the Wake Forest Town Hall, Attention: Town Clerk, 301 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest, NC 27587, or faxed to 919-435-9419.
Candidates will be expected to attend a meeting of the advisory board to which they applied in order to introduce themselves to the board’s current members and explain why they wish to serve. Once a candidate’s application is received, he or she will be notified concerning their interview date. All meetings will be held in the ground floor meeting room at the Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St., unless otherwise noted.
Following the interviews, each advisory board will review its slate of candidates before submitting their recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. The board will announce the advisory board appointments during its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 18. New terms will commence in January 2013.
Selected applicants will volunteer for three-year terms, except where unexpired terms are being filled.
