Wake Forest United Methodist Church, 905 S. Main St., Wake Forest, NC
The Wake Forest Lydia Lowie CROP Hunger Walk 2013 is set for Sunday, September 29, at 2:30 p.m. Now is the time to set up your team online, to join an existing team, or to register and make a donation as an independent walker. This community event will be Wake Forest’s 34th annual CROP Walk, following the theme "Ending hunger one step at a time.” The walk, which begins and ends at Wake Forest United Methodist Church, 905 South Main Street, is approximately 3.5 miles on sidewalks that include beautiful historic Wake Forest. All walkers will sign in at the Welcome Tent at WFUMC beginning at 2:30 p.m. on September 29. Step-off time will be 3 p.m. Bring along nonperishable foods to donate to the Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry van, which will be parked near the registration tables. Participate in writing notes of encouragement to U.S. soldiers through a ministry known as M2M, Ministry to Military. Note cards will be provided, and the messages will be included in care packages that will be sent to troops. This year’s organizers of the Wake Forest walk have set a goal of at least 200 walkers and donations of $10,000 or more to help end hunger and poverty here in our community and around the world. A portion of the funds raised here and all the donated food will go to the Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry in Wake Forest. All who participate--walkers and their sponsors--will declare their solidarity with the millions of neighbors around the world who have to walk long distances for water or other necessities in order to survive. Join us by registering online at www.cropwalkonline.org/wakeforestnc and then get started recruiting sponsors to make donations on behalf of your efforts for Wake Forest CROP Hunger Walk 2013.
