Administration includes the Town Manager's Office, Deputy Town Manager, and Town Clerk. The Town Manager is the chief administrator and is responsible for implementing Town Council policies. The Deputy Town Manager supervises the Engineering and IT Departments and coordinates special projects.The Town Clerk gives notice of Town Council meetings, prepares the agenda and records proceedings. The clerk is custodian of all permanent Town records and keeps track of appointments and terms for boards and commissions.


Communications is responsible for keeping the residents of Wake Forest informed about Town programs and services, as well as the actions of the Town government. The Communications Office is responsible for developing newsletters, brochures, electronic and e-mail communications with citizens, videos, press releases, and other informational materials, as well as managing content on the Town's website and Community Channel 10. The Public Information Officer works with the local media by providing information, arranging interviews and acting as a spokesperson for the Town.


Engineering maintains responsibility in such operations as construction inspection, traffic engineering and traffic signals, signs, and marking.


Finance activities consist of billing & collections, accounting, financial management and fiscal operations, budgeting, purchasing, central services, and customer service.


Human Resources responsibilities in the area of recruitment and selection of personnel, training, and employee benefits. Also oversees the Town’s Risk Management program.


Parks & Recreation has primary emphasis in recreation, athletics, community centers, building and grounds maintenance, and special events.

Planning & Inspections responsibility is in all phases of planning and building inspections, including land use and transportation planning, zoning and subdivision administration, historic preservation, urban forestry, building and fire inspection services, and code enforcement.


Police protect life and property through enforcement and prevention.

Electric Crew
Public Works is responsible for maintaining the Town's electric distribution system. Also oversees streets, fleet maintenance, and sanitation divisions and administers the residential and commercial solid waste/recycling contracts.
