Party of the Century - February 20, 2009

First Light Wake Forest kicked off Wake Forest's 2009 Centennial Celebration on December 31, 2008. We continued our year-long schedule of festivities with the “Party of the Century” on Friday, February 20, 2009.

The Party of the Century was scheduled to coincide with the date the town was officially incorporated - February 20, 1909.

The Ledford Center on the campus of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary was the site of this once-in-a-lifetime celebration. The party got underway at 4 pm and featured over 30 local organizations proudly displaying information about their history and mission. Each group also prepared and provided a specially decorated birthday cake commemorating the town's 100th birthday. See samples of these spectacular cakes below.

Not only did partygoers have the opportunity to sample all the birthday cakes, everyone in attendance was invited to enter several prize raffles, sing Happy Birthday to Wake Forest, and sign an enormous birthday banner which will be placed in our time capsule - tentatively scheduled in December 2009.

Thank you for celebrating our Town's wonderful traditions, the history of Wake Forest and being a part of this never-to-be-repeated birthday extravaganza.
